Everytime i see a thread like this whether it is posted from the LS1 ,vette forums ,or ricer forum the one important thing that everyone over looks is that the Lightning is a TRUCK and a LS1 or anything else are CARS. Its like comparing apples to oranges and they never seem to remeber that the Lightning has at least 1000+lbs on their CAR, and is as aerodynamic as a brick. They just dont want to admit that 9 times out of 10 a TRUCK will pi$$ on thier CAR.

You are right about the apple and orange thing.
You also have a supercharger from the factory with a 5.4 Liter engine. So that washes out your 1000 pounds in weight. Stock for stock a LS1 would hand a Lightning his A$$. Imagine if chevy put the same blower on the LS1 engine?
That would be nasty as well as a serious A$$ stomping to the whole Lightning community. All a LS1 needs is a few bolt on parts and the Lightning would only see it's tail lights no matter what you do. Like I said I am not knocking the Lightning I am just having a little fun.

I have not been impressed with any year cobra at this point other than the 2000R model. I hope they get the wheel hop issue taking car of. I needed gears in my Cobra to wake it up otherwise it was a pig .

 

I saw a stock LS1 at the track last friday night runing consistent 13.7x's. He had some really cool sunglasses though. Noone was looking at his car......lotsa ppl looking at the L though

 

I must admit i do get more attention with the lightning than i do the LS1, and that being the Firehawk, king of f-bods IMO. There is just too many WS6's everywhere you look that is why i got the rare Firehawk, there is only a total of about 1600 made this year. Although the Hawk is quite a chick-picker-upper!

That makes no sense that the super charger washes out the 1000 lb difference. You said stock right well thats how the Lightning a Truck comes stock vs a Car that is not only lighter but more aerodynamic. You even said yourself that its comparing apples to oranges You also say what if chevy put the same blower on the LS1 why do you make it sound like that is cheating on the lightning and makes up for the 1000 lb weight difference. When you just have to admit that a TRUCK can take a CAR and even if the CAR wins they still were racing a heavy truck that is as aerodynamic as a brick. I didnt say what i said to take anything away from the LS1 or anything. It just makes me laugh that everytime i see a post like this where they are always gunning for a lightning or talking stuff but they never ever mention that its a truck vs a car. So i guess that lightning must be doing something right if people are making it point to go after them a Truck in thier cars. People just have to realize that when they are like my stock LS1 can PI$$ on a stock Lightning that they are 2 different animals car vs a truck. So no matter what the Lightning is the underdog in any race vs a car and 9 times out of 10 the Lightning will win. Thats why i love this TRUCK can run with the best sports cars and with minmal mods can be in the high 12's.

You LS1 guys should pick up(LOL) the August 2002 issue of MM&FFs as there's an article comparing the 2003 Cobra and the 2002 Camaro SS. They ran a road course and a drag strip. You might be surprised that a Mustang zine praised the SS for its many good points.

That is because the GT and Cobra were no competition for the Fbody only your Lightning could give them a fair race. But stock for stock who wins?????? You know the answer

 

Go back to the F-Body board. Better yet show up at Englishtown NJ July 20 for the LS1 vs Lightning event!

 

Many stock 01-02 Lightnings can easily run 13.50s, and some strong trucks have already proven they can run as low as 13.20 STOCK.

So if you're saying a stock Lightning can't touch a stock LS-1 because stock LS-1s run 13.20-13.50, well, that sounds pretty even to me. Maybe you're just bad at math?

Oh, and lets see an LS-1 drop a full second off it's stock ET for less than a grand in mods .

 

I can't speak for all trucks, but a member of our local Lightning club (HALO) has gone 13.48, stock.
I know not everyone's truck is equal, but still, that's impressive for stock. So Madness, a big thumbs up to you buddy, keep knocking down those F-bodies.
