I just attended a meeting of the Central Florida chapter of SVTOA. It was held at Don Reid Ford (chapter sponsor) in Maitland, FL (just north of Orlando). Great group of guys! And, believe it or not, a really involved and enthusiastic dealer too. An all around good thing for any Lightning, Cobra, etc. owner in the area.

They are sponsoring track days at a local drag strip, car shows, autocross events, etc. Plus, the sponsoring dealership will give discounts on parts to members. All the members own SVT vehicles, including the three sales and service dealership employees who are members. And, one of the dealership service consultants owns and races an '01 Lightning on the bottle, if that tells you anything about their attitude toward mods!

The SVTOACA website is under construction (they just started working on it yesterday) but you can view progress at www.svtoacf.com.

F150 thanks for the heads up. Post next time they are having an event I go down there all the time (Islands of Adventure). That's a great sounding attitude they have also!

 

Thanks, guys. I just tried to go the SVTOACA website but they must be doing some work on it because it's temporarily down.

Looking at their newsletter for events, they participated in an SCCA autocross in late May and have the following planned:

June 19 - Show-n-Shine at Sonic Burger on University Blvd. in Orlando at 7 pm.

July 10 - Monthly Meeting at Don Reid Ford at 7 pm.

July 17 - Truck Night at Speed World in Bithlo on East Highway 50. Gates open at 6 pm.

August 14 - Monthly Meeting at Don Reid Ford at 7 pm.

August TBA - Poker Run in the hills of Clermont.

September 11 - Monthly Meeting at Don Reid Ford at 7 pm.

September TBA - SCCA Auto Cross.

Come on out and join us at any or all of these events/meetings. Lots of Lightnings, Cobras, Contours and Focus', good fun and knowledge exchange.

Great, glad to hear it! We set the annual dues at our meeting the other night. It's just $20 per year for our local Central Florida chapter. Of course, in order to join a local chapter you have to also join the national SVT Owner's Association and I think their dues are around $30 per year.

Great, Jim! Look forward to meeting you. Don't be shy about bringing that hot rod Mustang around from time to time either. Don Reid Ford keeps a '01 Mustang R in the showroom but I think your '92 LX would smoke it pretty bad.

The Tampa SVTOA is sorta slow, not a ton of people...its mostly cobras as well.... only problem is the meeting place is freedom ford...which I hate with a pasion
