Thats just a concept it will never come out. they are still trying to figure out the sticker on there other so called Lightning Killer the SRT-10. When i see it i will believe. Until then enjoy driving your truck the Baddest production pick-up on the planet and stop worring about something that was at an auto show remeber the last ram that was supposed to come out all beefed up and i think it came out 100 hp less then what they said. We will see but Ford wont be giving up the sport truck market that easy so if the SRT-10 is built the Gen 3 is gonna be badder azz and affordable.

Road Trip?

Bob1999, if you've never traveled in your L, you're missing half the fun of owning one. I've been in every state from Nevada to Georgia on the southern half of the great US of A (several times), and my L has never let me down on the road. You have the combination of the surge of torque for passing, the great visibility and safety of a truck, and (with a bedrug and cover), a huge trunk to carry all the goodies out of sight. What else could you want? Grab your significant other and hit the road!

As for the ViperPT...it's neck and neck with the SS and the SRT...it's as fast as you can imagine.

You said it Badazz, let them bring on the Viper truck or what ever else they are planning. The gen. 3 Lightning is going to be one bad a$$ truck if Ford actually gets some competition. It's about time other companies are catching on to the sport truck craze. All this means is that we will see more powerful, better handling trucks with even more special features. Sadly I have to say, is that the better the Lightning gets the higher the price will be. I just hope they keep the price under $40K in the up coming years. But it's anyones guess what will happen.

Talking

My wife and I just got back from a 1200 mile trip in the L, and we had a blast! I can truly say getting there is half the fun. We ran from Johnson City, TN up to Cleveland via I81 and I77, then over to Geneva on the Lake where we spent a couple days touring the Erie coast over to Conneaut. Then we ran a bunch of state routes down thru OH, finally hitting US23 which brought us back home.
The truck ran flawlessly, averaging 17.2 mpg for the trip. My previous truck, a '96 Ranger 4.0, made the same trip a few years ago with the only difference being interstate up and back, averaging 18 mpg. Not too bad of a trade off! We ran mostly about 10 above the posted limit, with a few WOT blast thrown in when the opportunities presented themselves.
We're already planning next vacation. I would love to swing some more time off, maybe for a Southwestern trip.
