Well, I just talked to Bassani, so here's the scoop, so there is no confusion.

Within the month, Bassani WILL be sending letters to all dealers, stating that all dealers must advertise Bassani products for jobber price. Jobber price for the Gen 2 cat back is $825.

These are the words from Bassani themselves. Be forewarned. LOL (sorry, sounded dramatic)
This sure sound like Bassani to me, they have no concept what the word customer service is. I had thier system on my 93 and loved it. Then I got their system for my 99 and had all kinds of problems. I had to take it off, and send it to them. To this day I have never heard from them and never got my money back. So they will never get another penny from me.

Sal, hasn't bassani ever

heard you can not enforce "fair trade law' pricing? It is illegal! Fair trade laws were struck down in 70's. I know i've represented lines since then that tried. If Bassani tried to revoke dealer or jobber status they could be sued. As posts indicate, they will just drive business to other manufacturers. Which would serve them right! Customers will forgo Bassani "cachet" for significant price differential. Bet they'll adjust their pricing downward after they lose 20-25% sales in a qtr! Sal appreciate you being up front about what's goi8ng on. Would be looking for alternate vendor!

Well Bassani can force its vendors to stick to a required ADVERTISED price; but that doesn't mean that is the price the item must be sold at. For instance, if you go to electronics sites like jandr.com, most of their items show a manufacturer's MSRP. You actually have to click a link that then sends you an email with their actual selling price. So in closing, Sal may have to advertise a certain price; but he is no way obligated to sell at said price.

In a few days I plan to order one..

If I can't get it in the $635 range then I will have to order the JDM cat back..

Total ripoff!!

I'm not cheap but $635 is too much for a cat back..

A muffler and some short pipes - wonder how much it really cost to make..

Talking

Well i love my bassani and anyone that heard it will realize why. I dont think they have right price gouging like that but what can you do. I bought mine knowing i wasnt gaining anything but sound and thats what i wanted the loudest exhuast out there and i believe it is after hearing the other ones. And after hearing a sound clip of it with the Longtubes sounds like a wild animal and cant wait to get the LT on. Ive had my catback on for well over a year and no problems i love it. Just everyone needs to know you are paying for sound not performance gains. I didnt feel like i lost anything actually felt like i gained some. But the sound was well worth it ask anyone who has heard my truck at a meet.

Ugh... I do like the Bassani sound, but if I were buying today, I don't know if I'd go that route when there are other good systems out there for less money. Does Magnaflow make a kit for Lightnings? I love how they sound on Mustangs. I think I'd just get the complete JDM long tube/silver bullet setup, got to be the best in terms of power.
