Hey, I'm learning

Tim
Tim you do not want to go leaner. You are correct, the higher the number the leaner>>>13 is leaner than 12. I can email you my dyno sheets if you want. I was at 11.3 (very rich) on my RACE side and easily made the 400/500 club (SAE corrected). We have identical mods so I would think that you should be making the same power. What kinda times are you running at the track??

It looks to me from your chart that your A/F is near 11.8-12.0, which is perfect IMO. I am happy being rich (and safe) where I am at though I would rather clean my exhaust tips after the track then my rods off the track

Pretty sure I read Jim likes to set the A/F at 11.7.Could be wrong.I am getting old.

Joe,

Last time out, I ran an 8.22 @ 84 mph in the 1/8 and THAT was on Hoosier drag slicks. I haven't run it on a 1/4 mile track yet.

It seems like I'm not making the power some of you are making and it's bugging me why!!

Does this dyno graph look normal, not too sure if the guy that did the dyno is as smart as he appeared. This is my first time to a dyno so I don't know what I'm looking at, really.

You have alot of peaks & valleys IMO. I think a better tune could smooth it out alot. What MPH did you run in the 1/8th?

Tim,

On a full track you'd probably be running 12.7/12.8ish. Not too shabby. As far as your power goes I wouldn't be too concerned with it. I never had my black truck on a dyno and I'm not in any hurry to get it dynoe'd. I care more about strip performance than dyno numbers.

If I were you though I would do a complete tune up on the truck before the next strip or dyno test. Little things can always add up. Slipping belt, old fuel filter, plugs, etc. If you ever put 100 or 104 octane gas through your motor the fuel filter and plugs would be the first to go. The varnish in 104 octane really clogs up the stock fuel filter. I hope that helps a little

I would suggest you try some new plugs and then try a new program. Maybe that J69 program you have it messed up. try a different tuner and see what happens to your performance.

My last 12.27 run with no juice was a 7.77 run in the 1/8th mile and I was running a crappy blower belt that shreaded up too.

Richard,

I ran 84 MPH. I always run 84 MPH no matter what the E.T. I ran 84 at 8.50 and 8.22! Go figure!

RobG,

Any help is appreciated and I thank all you guys for it.

I only have 4000 miles on my truck and I've only run 4 gallons of 100 octane through it during it's life and it was mixed (2 gallons to a half tank of 93 Amoco) both times. My belt seems plenty tight and my denso's only have 2000 miles on them.

Joe RTK,

I sent my dyno graph to Mike T for his interpretation. He supplied the chip and I want to know what he thinks too. He told me to have it dyno'd for a baseline to work from. I'm leaning toward a reburn or changing chips.

Tim - just drive to Jersey and have Jim tune it on a dyno. No matter who's chip you have, it will always be best from a dyno tune.

Tim,

My dyno was after all tuning (off dyno) from JDM. We spent a good amount of time with the Horiba meter, and Jims usual tuning tools to do my programs. I intentionally have jim make mine a little less aggressive.

What you saw got me to 12.25 @ 109.8 with stock 3.55's and a 130# fiberglass tonneau, so take it for what its worth.

Personally, I am not dead set on the biggest dyno #. Jim and I have spent alot of time in NJ and elsewhere working with my truck and 93 octane programs. So, I put my belief in the timeslips....

I will be at JDM weds and thursday to complete some other mods and see what we got. Maybe E-Town weds night, I dunno........

I believe Vinny is correct in that JDM likes the 11.7'ish range on A/F........

Tim,
I'm certainly no expert, but I think the 81 degree weather helped lower your numbers also.......You need to find a 1/4 mile track....or something....JR

Tim -

We have nearly identical mods and your hp / trq ssems low comared to mine 407/515 (j69) and mine was verified last friday on another dyno at 399/530. However we have ran nearly identical ET and MPH through the 1/8 mile so I would not worry about the dyno to much. The A/F was nearly spot on top mine as you have probably seen in my video. Get a scan tool on it so we can compare WOT timing readings maybe jim has pulled a tad more timing in your chip then mine.

"353 horsepower" with all those mods?

I got 351rwhp with just a safe chip, what gives?

Bob,

Very interesting indeed! Scan tool, what is that a timing device? Talk to me!!

Brian K,

What is a horiba meter? I hope it's not a typo that I didn't pick up on. Anyway, I've never heard of that before.
