Thumbs up Billet Grille Installed!

I installed my new Carriage Works Billet Grille last night. It wasn't all that bad considering some of the things that I have heard about this manufacturer's install. It would have been nicer had they sent a set of directions with the grille though! Thanks to Clonetek for his online instructions! They were pretty similar considering I had a different year L. The grille looks great and I am really happy. I got it off of EBAY from Custom Auto Parts. They have it on there for a pretty good price!

Unfortunately, nothing is ever perfect and I had a little accident installing the grille surround back in. After I put it back in I was screwing in the screws and noticed the nice big scratch on my bumper that must have happened when i was installing the grille back in! bn28ryu92-fhj398-fyh932fh8329-fyh3-f (Sorry, that was me beating my head into the keyboard!)

I installed mine on Saturday. Will post some pics later in the week. It wasnt to bad at all. The top one needed a little cut off 2 of the posts to give a better fit. Other then that, no problem.

What brand bug guard do you have on your truck (that is one I see, isn't it?)? Is it screw on or held on by tape or velcro or ? Also, is it painted to match the truck or smoke?

Thanks.

I have always bought GT-Styling bug shields for my vehicles and when I went to get one for my L last year I came across some rather interesting information. They are going out of business! I got it at Summit Racing and the guy there said that the Lund ones are pretty good so I went with that one. It is the Lund X-Terminator or something like that. It was about $40 bucks without shipping.

It has been a while since I installed it, but I do believe that there was some drilling, but it was real simple stuff. Just drilled like 3-4 holes in the underside of the hood and then mounted it. Oh yeah, and there are rubber mounts that stick directly on the hood to prevent vibration. Overall, I have been pretty happy with it.

I did not paint it to match. The smoke color goes really well with the black. I have seen smoke colored bugshields on other L's that are not black and I don't know if I really like it.... but I am a huge fan of black paint too.
