Post FYI - early details on Silverado SS

Apparent press conference today in Arizona. I'm sure it will not be as fast as the L in stock form, but great potential for a extra cab truck. I would not imagine any 10's or low 11's would be happening at any time with the extra cab either.

From LS1.com site - Quote

Chevy "unveiled" their Silverado SS at the Phoenician Resort in AZ today. It was a special event, with only "certain" people there. As soon as I receive more info (should be within a couple of days), I will post more about it.

I cannot confirm anything YET, except that it WILL BE BUILT as a 2003 model. However, this is what I have been told so far by some reliable sources. AWD, Ext Cab, 6.0L, 2003 model.... that is it so far. I have heard rumors of a S/C, but not by sources I can say are reliable, YET. As soon as I hear something more about today's "event" I will post it.

Well, as promised...as soon as I heard something else, I would post it. Here it is:

1. 2003 Model
2. 6.0L motor
3. SUPERCHARGED
4. Ext Cab
5. Short Bed
6. 20" wheels
7. Lowered from standard ride height (10" up front 11" out back)

These are about as relieable as you can get. The hp/tq numbers have NOT ben released yet. Hopefully they will be released in the late June/early July press release from GM. All I can say is WOOHOOOOOOOOO

How many SS's are they up to that haven't been released yet?

Like the new SRT-10, I believe it when I see it and be worried if need be.

Thumbs up

i saw one of those new Silverado SS running one of those new SRT10 Dodge trucks the other day. the SS got him out of the hole, but the dodge caught up quick. they were neck and neck going thru the traps. the timing board flashed the times 00@000 and they both disappeared, because neither one of them existed, or something

MRBBQMAN,

Were there any flaming tire prints? Maybe they went Back to the Future.

My nephew has one of the older 454SS trucks. That thing is a DOG. Like Litenin75 said, big motor, no power! I have a feeling that the new SS will be a different story, though. GM knows how to make an engine perform: I mean take a look at the Z06 engine - a N/A pushrod engine making over 400HP!

405+ hp from that engine is impressive.... but you must spend $50k+ to get it (and the rest of the metal, rubber and plastic that goes around it)... I'm sure the new SS will be a kick a$$ ride, but at what price... it's hard to get the performance to price ratio of the L...(specially when you work in AWD) Are they competing against the L market or the new SRT-10 market? we won't know until we see the cost I suppose...

The GMC C3 has the 6L and awd. I think they are only at 300hp. I'll believe it when I see it on the street.

A 6L block dressed up like a 'vette motor is going to make 400hp at the very least. Make no mistake, this vehicle is a potential badass. But then again.......where is it? The general isn't shy about putting a big price tag on a vehicle either. This one sounds like another "look what we have" type vehicle, instead of something we'll be seeing everyday on the streets. $40,000 at least.

I agree with you Roger, it will be pretty cool IF they make it and get at least 400hp. I would like to have the extra cab. What would be awesome is to have a 2002 True Blue L and then a 2003 Silverado SS in red(or something). I know it is not here yet and if it does get here it will not get in the same league as the L($$$ for POWER) Neat to think about though.
