Longtubes cause detonation

Heres my deal guys and gals. I know the solution but would like some more imput. Since I've recently installed my longtube headers, I've noticed some detonation in the upper RPM. Previously I had bassani shorties and all was fine , L pulled hard and no det. So what gives? Can these longtubes change that much about my tune I guess so but who would have believed it. THe mods are as follows 2800 stall, single blade throttle body, JL chip, k/n filter, LFP longtube headers, JDM cats, Bassani catback, TR-6 plugs, and JDM electric fan w/170 thermostat. I believe Ill Have to get a reburn on my Diablo chip to fix my detonation. Would you agree? By the way Im pushing mid 11's with this set up and what would I expect if it was tuned properly? JEFF

If your mixture was lean to start, the long tubes could cause it mixture to lean out a little more. you might want to put the truck on a dyno and set the a/f ratio.

You must be running some sort of pulley setup also, upper and lower or both to get mid 11s.If not then WOW!!!

No way its the converter he must have some pulleys or NOS or he is full of BS. The tunners could not even run that without pulleys or NOS

Oh I forgot to mention it has a 5lb lower pulley and a k/n filter w single blade throttle body, oh it might have had a little port work on motor also, No NOS sorry DL.

J15BIG is partially right.

A good converter is worth about 5 tenths!!

Hmmmm...

Cool, trick flow heads... You've been busy this winter...

The tuners need to consult you for tips..

5 tenths from a good convertor , OK

Chip Reburn....

JBSvt,

When you added Long tube headers, did you notice you lost 1 1/2 lbs of boost??? I hope so. This means you have increased the volumetric efficiency of your motor...(i.e. your cylinder pressures have decreased)....Anyway, whenever you add a mod like this you should always get a reburn...if not a custom tune. These trucks rely so much on electronics and sensors...they work as a system.. Hope this helps
