I give up, on this chip!
Tim:
Your original post is very confusing. You switch
chips in your written post without explaining.
If I understand your questions and comments then I think you have a misunderstanding, not a 'bad' chip. As far as I know, ALL tuners increase the trans pump pressure to make the shifts 'hard' unless you specifically ask them not to. I have a chip from all 3 of our tuners and each of them cause the truck to shift 'hard'/quick.
As has been said, you can change the shifting characteristics of your trans with a valve body mod and probably be easier on your trans. than just using a chip. Of course, if you use the valve body, you will want to get the pump pressure reduced on your chip.
The $10 charge was probably a shipping/handling charge--very cheap considering the tuner had to spend time in reburning the chip as well as get it back to you.
I know of no one with exhaust tips that aren't black unless they've just been cleaned. This is the nature of the beast, whether stock or chipped.
Get in touch with your tuner by phone and go over(quickly) your needs/complaints and then write them down and include that with your chip. They can't remember every conversation until your note triggers the conversation in their memory and then they should be able to make the proper changes.

They should be darker than a chipped truck. Having a chip leans out the stock program, even a conservative program is leaner than stock.

Like I stated earlier, Jim (JDM) makes the shift duration shorter.......he does not increase the line pressure.

I have the Super Chip with the R9 prog. Jim reburned it for my 3# pulley,And took the hard shifts out..I added the line valve mod from JDM and it shifts great..Normal at regular driving,But quick.Gets more aggressive as power is added..

Yea, I know it leans it out some, but mine are super black with or without a chip, especailly after getting the Reman. motor. Oddly enough, my Dad's 2000 L when without a chip has very little black on his ex. tips, they were VERY clean.
Thanks for the info.
