Didn't you just run that at 41 Sunday?

I ran my best time @41 in my '02 with only 800 miles on it.

13.27 @102 mph on f1's

Cool down periods are a HUGE factor in stock numbers.

How did you cool your truck down?

Hey:

I ran those times on Sunday. I didn't do much to cool the thing down (no ice at least), though I did sit in the staging lanes with the hood up for about an hour and a half, then hot-lapped it and ran within .03.

To get my 13.2's I sat in the pit area with the hood open (facing away from the sun) until the temp gauge was almost at the bottom. Seems to work.

13.5 at 101.5

Of course, that's not counting all the d00ds that
were pissed at me for dragging water up onto the
launch pad ... <grin> The guy with the MOP wasn't
happy either, but HEY, I'm just starting here ... I

My 2000 ran a best of 14.20 at 99 mph.

This bites.

Anyone else?

Thanks

What were your 60 foots ??
If your 60 foot times were NOT under 2.0 or even 1.9 then you need practice launching and hope for good track prep.
Running 13.2 stock is NOT the norm it is the exception....

Hey:

My 60' times were 2.0. The truck didn't bog and it didn't spin, not even a little. Frankly, I don't know if my truck has the power to get a lower 60' time.

My launch technique was to rev the truck to about 800 RPMs and hold it with the brake. When the tree came down I floored it. Not a squeak, no chirp in second either. The track at 41 is prepped pretty well, but I've never had a car that couldn't spin the tires like this. This was with 30 PSI tire pressure!

My buddy Dave, see above, ran 13.30 with a 2.0 60' time. That and the lack of ability to spin the tires at all, and the low mph, has me more convinced that this is a power problem than a driver problem.

Bone stock with 1700 miles 58 degrees and 60% humidity I ran a best of::

2.017 60'
13.600 @ 100.85

A week later with the temp at 76 degrees and 90% humidity I ran a best of:

2.005 60'
13.919 @ 99.78

The temp and humidity play a large part in your 1/4 times. If you can get lucky enough to get to the track on a day where its in the mid 50's, low humidity and the track is hooking, you should be able to run in the mid 13's even stock.

Good Luck....

Thanks for the advice and information. I think I am going to try some night racing this weekend and see if that helps at all.

I'll also endeavor to do a better job of cooling the truck between runs.

Thanks again

Steve
