Best Way for Remote Start
Lets get this straight.
Hi kids,
Im not a lightning owner but I love hanging in here cause you guys come up w/ some good S!@#. I was the Manager of Dream Car south in Miami Fl, for 3 yrs and Installer for 2.5 yrs. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO LOSE YOUR FACTORY KEYPAD WHEN INSTALLING ALARMS. MANY PEOPLE KEEP THEIR FACTORY ALARM AND ADD AN AFTERMARKET TO THEIR VEHICLES. ITS JUST LIKE HAVING A SECONDARY ALARM EVEN THOUGH IT DOESNT DO MUCH. YOU DO NEED A SPECIAL PART CALLED FORD P.A.T.S. BYPASS WHEN INSTALLING REMOTE START. ITS NOT VERY EXPENSIVE. ALMOST ALL ALARM MANUFACTERS MAKE EM. I RECOMMEND D.E.I. PARTS. THEY MAKE VIPER, CLIFFORD AND SIDEWIDER ALARMS AMONG OTHERS. IVE HAD ZERO PROBLEMS W/ THEM.
AUTOMATE ALARMS ARE ALARMS THAT ARE REPLACEMENT TO THE FACTORY ALARM BUT WITH MORE FEATURES (SHOCK SENSOR, ALARM SIREN, MORE ALARM INPUTS AND OUTPUTS FOR DIFFERENT FEATURES LIKE WINDOW ROLL UP AND DOWN AND REMOTE START) THEY ALSO MAKE A REMOTE STARTER THAT USES THE FACTORY ALARM AND REMOTES AS A BASE SYSTEM. YOU EITHER PRESS BOTH LOCK AND UNLOCK AT THE SAME TIME TO START AND STOP THE ENGINE OR YO CAN BUY THE DIFFERNET FORD REMOTES WITH MORE BUTTONS.
tHE ONLY PROBLEM WITH KEEPING THE FACTORY ALARM AND ADDING A NEW ON TOP IS THAT BOTH MUST BE DISARMED IN ORDER FOR THE VECHILE TO START. WHEN REMOTE STARTING YOU ONLY NEED TO DISABLE THE FACTORY ALARM.
To some it might be a good thing to others a bad. it depends.
DONT EVER SAY THAT SOMETHING IS NOT POSSIBLE AND DONT LET ANY ONE TELL YOU THAT ITS NOT POSSIBLE. THEIR JUST BEING LAZY.

I alreadly got it. It works great. Its kinda like a loud exhaust mod for a honda civic, but cheaper. It gets peoples attention, its really annoying and only the owner thinks its cool.
qball,
The DEI 552t will integrate in with the factory setup. Basically you tie the 'trigger' wire (its white blue) to a door lock wire, and in the programming you tell it how many times you are gonna pulse it to start it. So basically you hit lock 3 times, or unlock (doesn't matter) and badabing it fires up. Bear in mind though the range is FAR less than the other remotes it comes with. So IMO i would retain the new remotes and use them. No reason not to.
The dei viper550esp (or the new viper560esp) will also accomodate the use of factory keyfobs to START the car, but they will not operate the alarm, so you'd have to make sure it was disarmed when you started it. The factory key fobs will still work the locks/unlock and panic, but why would you when the new remotes have far better range, and security??

just keep in mind the ford P.A.T.S. bypass will be needed for any remote start system because of the computer chips in the keys that identify if the key is ment for that vehicle. The bypass sends the same signal that the chips send so that you dont have to leave a key in the ignition to remote start

It's nice to be able to leave your truck running w/ the A/C on, lock it, and then come back and unlock it via the key pad
