Paging Lightningtuner

I've got your 2 lb.'er. I just started getting this horrible squeek about 10k of use. I suspected that with the stock belt being kinda' tight in terms of my own observations, I think the belt tensioner has gone south. The squeek frequency increases with motor revolutions. I took the belt off and it stopped. Is there a longer belt that available to use with my pulley and not slip. Got a part number for me to get it right away. I've got to have the truck running soon. TIA

Before you condemn the tensioner, check the two idler pulleys. I've changes tons of them, they go bad quite often. Kind of sounds like a cat being tortured when that happens. Also, if your belt is relatively old, Ford went to a new belt material about a year ago that reduces noise. Hope this helps.

Yes, there is much torture going on. First, I've got an 01 with 18k on it. How can I test any of the pulleys. I have not a clue.

The easiest way is just take one off, start the truck, see if it's gone. If not, put the first one back on, take the other off and see. Should be 13mm bolts holding them on.

U need a stethescope. Really easy, just stick the tip of the scope on the pulley and listen for roaring/problematic sounds. You can pick a set up for aroudn 15-20$ at most autoparts places, or take it to a dealer since it looks like its under warranty.
