lowering the truck 1 in front 2 in back??

I know this has been visited before, but with me getting new rims soon i wanted to buy the lowering kit with it ( i've found someone who could give a good deal on rims and lowering kits, whichever i need) I'm looking to lower the truck 1 inch in the front and 2 inches in the rear, what type of shift kit would i need, my friend can get me the deal on eibach or eddlebrock products,,, woud i need new shocks to go with a lowering of that length??

i am very concerned about bottoming out here in the detroit area where the streats are all terrible and i'm just looking for the best way to go. Sorta scared to think this over on my own after the few recent lowering kit nightmares i've read about on this board.

~Toast

i'm looking for a true 1/2 drop for our trucks, not just drop kits that will only end up giving me 1/1.

I'm getting my Eibach springs put in tomorrow or Wednesday so I'll have to stop by your store, probably Thursday. Or Friday I should be at the Dix/Southfield cruise. I"ve already done the 2" drop shackles in the rear. Those gave me almost a full 2" drop if I remember correctly.

I read as much info as I could on all the different springs and decided on the Eibach. Not only do they give you a 1" drop, but are a performance upgrade over the stock. The Hotckis springs also looked good.

Hope this helps,

Bob

I got a Belltech 1-2. F150 2" springs and 2" shackles. perfect 1-2 drop. Handles great, looks great, and doesn't bottom out on anything. Easy to install also.

I'm also looking into dropping the front 1", I already have the rear shackles and it rides fine. I just think that the 1" drop is all I need to get the stance I want. Like you said Whitetoast the streets are pretty bad here in MI.

Thumbs up

I got the Ground Force 2/2 (1/2 on the Lightning) kit which I believe is the same one FRPP uses. I like the way it looks and have no problems with bottoming out.

I did the FRPP 1/2 in my driveway in 3 hours.I like the look. There is still a little rake but I like that.No bottoming out and still no problems with curbs.
Highly recommend.

Ok,,, looks like i got a good line on the eibach 1/2 drop kit,, which drops it actually like 1 and 1.5, but still sounds good at the price i can get. If i install this on my own i'll probably need some help from you guys as i have no experience with suspension work,, but hey, i had no experience with exhaust work and that install of the bassani went fine so who knows. I do have a friend with air tools and anything else i would need,,,, (except for a lift that is)

By the way, i will be buying chrome 20's this week and was wondering if anyone is interested in my stock 01 18's with only 4600 miles on them. If anyone is interested, shoot me an email at whitetoast11@comcast.net and i'll get you a good deal, especially if you are close by the detroit area.

~Thanks for all your help, it'd be great to see your drop chainsaw, I'll have to check for sure cause i'm in and out of both stores quite a lot, but i'll be at AP tomorrow till around 1 or 2 ( i'll need to go pick up my truck from dealership warrenty work) Wednesday should be free and then thursday and friday i know i'll be in, but not sure which store. If you would like to stop by, normally things low down enough for me to check out a truck by around 1 or 2, and if i'm closing then i'd probably be free anytime between 2 and 6.

Again, thanks for all your help, I've got some great ideas for the truck recently and i know its going to look great when its done, might have to wait till next month to finish up the appearance features though, then another month to finish up under the hood and out the exhaust with long tubes

L in detroit,, thanks, i just might take you up depending on if i can get any sort of deal on the install through my cousin. It looks like the 2/3 is in the bag and ready to get ordered in my mind for now, only worried about bottoming out but it all looks promising for the most part, maybe i'll just have to drive her slower. I just got a valve body cortesy of factory tech today in the mail which looks fun to install but i should be able to handle that one just fine. I'm actually a bit far from where you are though, i live justa bout where southfield freeway starts, but i've been up to the van dyke area in warren many times so if its anywhere near there then it shouldn't be hard to find.

sorry if my typing is messed, i had bowling toninght and i had one beer (lie), so...

i would go with the 2/3, i have the belltech 3/4, which in the front is a 2, since the L is already lowered 1 in the front, stock, and i went with the second hole in the shackles so the rear is a 3, 2/3. i havent had any problems bottoming out, and i havent changed the bump stops, or cut them, yet. i dont know if the 20's your going with is a larger diameter tire but u should not have any problems. i like the way it rides now, i does seem to bounce more, but if its possible a stiffer bounce, in stead by hopping over the rough roads it seems to follow them, if that makes sence, i went with the nitto active shocks also..i dont know if your trying to make a decision real soon but your more than welcom to try how the 2/3 rides in my truck, i am pretty busy till the weekend though..
