In my opinion thats not a Lightning any more, at that point its just a race truck. Im not knocking it by no means its just not what I want. Also if you have to use two power advantages, (S/C and NOS), than you haven't done much again. I try to race with the guys running NOS and show them a L can hang with them.

I think that a some point you are going to have two inherant that will rear there ugly heads

1) This is a truck and as such most of the 5000 ugly pounds are in the front (a bad thing) The majority of the weight that can be removed is at best in the cab and to the rear. (seats/hitch/bead/spare tire..) are all in the rear. Most of the stuff in the front needs to stay there or don't weigh enough to justify moving.

2) This is a truck and has the basic aero traits as a brick.

Not to descourage you but as Porscha is quoted "It is imposible to make a race horse starting with a mule...But you can build a damm fast mule"

Good luck

iculokn,

you seem to be pretty knowledgable about these trucks(thanks for the help/advice earlier) so I would do what you think is right. I am sure if you want to build a truck to race at the strip in the mid 10's and cruise on Fri.,Sat. nights, that it can be done. If your pockets are deep enough, pretty much anything can be done. Good luck on your quest. I can not wait for everyone to come down to Kinston again for a day at the track.

Dude, go with the BEEGGER Blower from Sal, built bottom end, ported heads w/beegger valves, and if more is needed then cheat (or thats what some people who are crybabies think) USE NAWS MAN ( I think that means Nitrous oxide) and don't forget the fuel system will need a little help too!!!

I really disagree here..... I will put it like this...

My truck will still pass ANY STATE inspection after this...

If I decide to go SC & NOS I will be able to drive it anywhere and still get 16-18mph on my economy program, and still have a mid to high 11 truck without NOS. If someone pisses me off a few simple switches will allow me to race them with NOS and not even have to get out of the truck.

If I go ALL HIGH BOOST I will have less desire to drive it on the road since it will be harder on the motor but I will still be able to and go anywhere.

Last year I saw Sal drive from NY to Cecil, run 11.20's and drive home, that was impressive to me. Not a trailer queen, a street truck. He will do the same but be in the 10's now.

Right now my truck is all boost, gets 16-18mpg on my economy program and runs low 12's. You can be streetable and run 10's. Its not that hard....

You will see many more trailer queens this year including myself, JL and Sal. When the CLOSEST track that I go to is a 3 hour drive I can't take a chance any longer. I ran 11's last season and drove to all except the last event and was very fortunate, no more.
