Repairs

My 2001 has 6,371 miles on it and has never had any warranty work done on it. It has been mechanically sound and trouble-free since the day I bought it.

However, through no fault of my own, I've had my front bumper scraped in a parking lot (culpret unknown), windshield cracked by a rock below the driver's side wiper blade, a nasty door ding in the driver's door caused by gale force winds, and a bent rim from a wicked pothole.

The body damage has all been repaired and I've got a spare Lightning rim and F1 to use until I can get the other straightened. I'm thinking about having all five rims chromed anyways. I can live with the windshield for awhile.......you can hardly see the crack.

2000L:
Steering clunk, off the lot, two trips to dealer under warranty for fix. Returned after 30K miles.
Little to no boost, off the lot, boost bypass linkage adjustment under warranty.
Intercooler replacement at 28K, no leak.
Oil leak from right side of engine, cylinder head gasket replaced at 32K under warranty.
Drivers door crack, not yet repaired, there is a TSB so it should be done under warranty.
Coolant leak, just discovered today, 600 miles after head gasket done. I am not happy.
Reliability is a problem with these trucks. I drag mine but pamper it in terms of maintainence and service. Don't know if any thing else that provides this much fun is any more or less trouble free.

2001--bot in May--23,000+ miles--driven to work daily--1/4 miled and dynoed.

My fog lights are cracked! Can you believe it? I ought to get my money back from Ford .

'99L; 18.6K now; had the I/C replaced at about 15K when I received 'The Recall In A Can'. The original was NOT leaking at that time and the new I/C is NOT leaking either.

I do have an intermittant problem with the A/C clutch if it is engaged shortly after cold startup. It tends to "bang" when it first grabs, but otherwise works fine. I'll get that checked out before the end of my 3/36 bumper2bumper in Sept. '02.

Fog light lenses

"My fog lights are cracked!"

From what I understand, the plastic lenses crack due to the heat coming from the engine bay. Ford will replace them under warranty.

2001 L with 3200 miles. AC didn't have any CFC fluid from factory. Passenger window wouldn't go down. Both problems fixed under warranty. Other than that, perrrrrfect!

2001 with 8000km (4800 miles). Seat belt recall has been it so far. I also have the infamous 'cracked foglight mod'. Unfortunately, they're obviously stone chips, so no warranty there. I'll wait until they stop working before I replace them.

2001L,

5400 miles, no major problems so far, been modded since about 1000 miles. Only thing with mine was belt chirp/clunk at start-up, but found the culprit on the lower pulley. Looked like some tiny pieces of chalk or something caked into 3 of the grooves. I do have the cracked foglight mod as well, but as above, obviously a rock chip. Driven like it was stolen from day one! It seems to run stronger every time I drive it
