Question removing front springs

i am expecting my drop springs in a couple of days,i spoke with a friend that turns wrenches on cars (not to many trucks its a lincoln dealer)anyway he told me that the front springs are a bitch to get out because the lower a arm doesent swing down far enough for easy removal my question is to any of you that have done this, how hard are they to remove?? i sume the new ones will go in easy because of there shorter length any feedback would be great thanks

will i need a spring compressor tool??
