I removed the upper control arm ball joint, not the lower one. This saves you from removing the steering arm.

I attached a pic.

Throw away the instructions!!!

The instructions basically tell you to disassemble the entire front end.

I am about to install mine, and I think I will follow Don's advice. I'll take some pics along the way and post them (if it goes alright)

Well, I did it like Don described and it was no problem.

After disconnecting the sway bar and upper ball joint, and removing the shock, lower the lower control arm until the spring comes out.

Install the new spring and put everything back together. Not much to it.

Don,

Thanks for the advice. I think it may have saved a lot of people, including me, some fustration.

I just finished putting everything together and it's dark now so I guess I won't be able to get a good look at it until tomorrow.

Remove all the nuts with a jack under the lower control arm for support. When all the nuts are removed, lower the jack until the suspension bottoms out and hammer where shown to knock the ball joint loose. Continue to let the jack down until the spring comes out easily.

A few notes:
Undo the ABS sensor wire from the control arm (shown) to give it some slack and do the same with the brake hose.

Jack the truck up as high as possible before putting it on jack stands or you won't be able to lower the suspension enough to get the spring out.
