Get Herbs' washers, they are the best fix.

Do a search, I've done this as many have. Seems to be the one solution no one has every complained about after doing it. Herb did a great service for this clunk problem.

Unhappy

I think my 2001 L has "the clunk" too. I hear a clink and clunk noise turning the wheel back and forth about 1/4 from center while sitting still, and when moving about 1/2 turn (going around corners).

I also hear a, for lack of a better word, a grinding noise from the steering column while turning the wheel.

I remember a clunk noise being described in the front end, but I don't remember and noise being described in the steering column. Is this the "clunk" and another problem at the same time?

Search is disabled, I tried to find this topic on my personal "saved threads" on my PC, but I guess I didn't save it, thinking this won't happen to me......

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Check to see if there is evidence of movement around the lower control arm bolts. While you’re down there, grease the steering stops where they hit the inside of the spindle.
