Temperature display says "ICE"

Has anyone noticed their temperature display on the overhead console? Mine normally give the temperature and the direction you're facing. However, some mornings it says "ICE". Has anyone else seen this?

Mine flashes between "ice" and the temperature once it gets below 37 degrees or so.

I have seen this also when the temp. is freezing
or below, the display says ice. Sometimes there is
ice on the windshield.

It's in the owner's manual. Icing can occur on overpasses and some roadways when the temp drops below 38F.

That is just crazy.

What it really means is that you should cool down your drink...

Hiya LAST50. I know Westmont well. My wife and I sometimes hang out at Tracy's on 55th to catch the Indiana basketball games with the rest of the alumni. Go Hoosiers!

About the "ICE" thing: see page 79 in your owners manual. "If the outside temperature falls below 3C (38F), the display will alternate from "ICE" to the outside temperature at a two second rate for one minute." Mine has been doing it about every morning since I bought it. Tomorrow + 60F!

Well, being a Purdue grad, I won't be going there for any IU games.

Question What makes "ICE" flash?

On 2-27-02 I drove to Nashville and back seeing a low of 16 F on the plateau and a high of 27 F, but I never saw the "ICE" flash up.

Anyone?

Talking

Want to have some fun with you temperature gauge remove it from the inter-fender location and mount it into the air cleaner and you will know your intake charge temperature before the supercharger. Just for kicks.

Mine has not had the "ICE" flash at me in a while. The reason for that is because we have not gotten up to freezing since about October. Just after Christmas, the temperature in interior Alaska was about negative 42 degrees! AT that temperature, the gauge flashes, "IT'S *******ING COLD!" If you don't believe me, come on up next January and see for yourself.

That's because it was already below freezing and you should know that there could/should be ice on the road. It flashes "ICE" at 37 so you realize that overpasses/bridges could be freezing.
