Thanks Jim thats just the kind of info Im looking to compile.

DL- No worries - It is pretty clear you were trying to even the score. I just want to keep this from degrading into a war. If we can keep the folks who dont have data to contribute from jumping in just to defend their Tuner that is less likely to happen.

Now we need some info from JBA customers, More JL/LPP customers, JDM Long Tube Customers, LFP - Bassani customers, etc etc.

I am debating on getting headers since I am not interested in the sound only in the performance... Actually more noise would be a negative to me... But I guess Ill have to learn to live with it if the #'s come back in a postive way.

Doug

Just want to clear this up:

JDM headers are made by Kooks, not JDM.

No flame intended, they are Kooks headers and JDM sells them through him exclusively for the L.
When was this unclear? DL, you crack me up . . .

Cool

Doug,

I put a used set of ceramic coated JBA's on in the fall of last year. I got then for a $150 from Collin because he couldn't keep the bolts tight and burned out the exhaust gasket on one cylinder. I know now why he didn't put them back on. They were a PITA to put on and a double PITA because I used the locking Stage 8 bolts. They don't leak because I used stock Ford exhaust gaskets and the Stage 8's aren't going to back out.

I wasn't expecting any gain in ET but was hoping for more mph on the big end from what I had read. I didn't see any changes in my timeslips but I now have a throatier sounding exhaust. I'm just glad I didn't pay full price.

For what it's worth..........

On Feb. 2nd, I ran a 12.978@108.25 at Silver Dollar Raceway. See my sig.--with these exceptions: JL chip(tuned for 5lb pulley[very 'rich'-see below]) and stock exhaust.

On Feb. 15th, I had Redline D4 synthetic trans. fluid installed.

On Feb.19th, a JDM Magnaflow cat-back with a single 14568 muffler was installed.

On Feb. 22nd, I dynoed two chips-see sig. They both had very 'rich' A/F ratios(11.4-11.00).

On Feb 23rd, I ran a 12.789@108.28 at SDR with the still-too-'rich'(IMHO) JL chip and the cat-back now on.

On March 1st, I ran a 12.768@107.75 with the only change(other than the date/day) being a JDM chip--and, of course, the cat-back.

This is not 'definitive' info but I thought I'd show the progression of changes and ets. What I get from it is that the cat-back certainly didn't hurt--and that I am sick .

Great contribution -
Looks like Cat back is worth may be 2 10ths.
But could be weather and could be chip involved as well..

Lets keep em coming !!!

Doug
PS I just realised I passed 2500 posts sometime yesterday -

I'm very interested in this info as well, for the same reason as Silver 2000. I have heard that the bassani headers alone are worth 25hp. This gain was supposedly dyno proven. I wonder if anyone else here has had those same results?

You might want to talk to Rusty. He just removed his Basanni headers from his 00 L and installed the JL headers. The Basannis are 'short' and our engs. seem to 'like' the long tubes better.

Update:

New best with the same mods as last week in my previous post.

1.822 60', 8.122@86.05 1/8th, and 12.673@107.72. The air temp was warmer at 72*--same track.

I really like the JDM?Magnaflow c/b. It is 'quiet'(little deeper and louder than stock) when it should be(idle and cruising) but much deeper at WOT. It seems to be the 'perfect' set-up for a daily-driven 1/4 miler. If I can get a decent bid on some Confederate Cotton bonds, I'll spring for the headers too.
