I may sound like a total idiot but i heard someone say that you can improve gas mileage with a chip or something? is this true? how effective is it?

 

Yes, you can. If you're gonna do this, I recommend getting a 2-way or a 4-way chip. I have a PSP 2-way. One 'side' is for daily driving/economy and the other 'side' is for 1/4 milein'. I went from 14+ mpg(useing a 'street' chip) to 15+ mpg with the economy mode in use. Not much, but it can be done and I think it makes sence if you drive as much as I do.

Masterloggie has a 00 L and a PSP 4-way chip. His business causes him to drive from middle GA to the Pentagon and back. He's gotten 20+ mpg useing the economy side of his chip.
