Question curious about top speed

I have a JDM 93 oct street agressive chip program.. I was just wondering if these chips actually affect top speed at all? I know Ls top out at 140mph stock. I've pegged mines at 140 once before installing the chip just to see how it handled at that speed. Never pushed it past 100 since the chip install but seems like it would do over 140. Does JDM's chips increase top speed and if so by how much? 5-10mph perhaps?? A Lightning with an aggressive chip and say maybe a 4lb pulley would top out at how much? Just wondering

What Fast Gator said. Also, don't run a chipped Lightning at top speed for more than a few minutes unless it's been tuned for going those speeds. Of course, if you want to replace your exhaust valves and need a good reason, try it and see how long they last.

What Spike said and if your looking to buy new rods or a bottom end.

Remember JDM is a 1/4 mile racer. His CHips are tuned for that unless you ask otherwise....

I've seen (breifly) 154MPH via digital speedo in a 2001 w/ add-on's in my sig. Big aerodynamic wall @120 mph it seems.b

I've been a little over 140 for about 5 seconds or so on the interstate very early in the morning. I was probably 145 or so but I think it had a little more.

The valves last 8 miles at 150mph.Plus 7 sparkplugs.

if a lightning was tuned for top end speed and no thought of acceleration...how fast do you think it could safely sustain for a given period of time????

I know Ruslow would run his at 175+ mph for a little over 30 minutes if there weren't corners or elevation changes. BTW, they are running at elevations over 6000 to 7000 ft. See 135 mph results two seasons ago before he made major suspension and safety changes.

hold the trip reset button. put the key in and start the truck. wait till the odometer says test. let go of the button. keep pressing it untill it says ENG i believe. that is your speed. it may say ENGSPD i dont remember. you will figure it out. there are many things on that little test fucntion but the only thing i ever use is speed and tach. just keep pressing the trip button and you will see all kinds of things
