SS-R

Now we know why the SS-R is going to suck so bad.
Chevy wasted all the funds on stupid looking stickers and paint jobs to put on thier concept vehicles.

It's amazing how much hp chevy can put into a truck and still be slow.

GOD I hate Chevy's

I saw that too!!! I liked the new 'Vettes the best, some very interesting stuff lurking under the hoods.

I am very much a Ford person, but when it comes right down to it, I just love high peformance American big cubic inch HP pumping engines, no matter who makes it.

With GM and Dodge raising the stakes, all that does is make Ford step up to the plate, look at the new '03 Cobra for example. With the new Viper powered Ram and the Silverado SS (if produced), just think what the next Lightning will have to be like to compete......

chevy has no *****? have you heard of a z06 corvette? and the camaro out powered the mustangs for the last 9 years. what about the 90 454ss, i know it is no lightning but it is one of the first attempts at a sports truck. 1987 gnx, the grand nationals the 89 turbo trans am, the syclones and typhoons of the early to mid 90's. the impala ss was a desent product, the zr-1 corvettes,
in case you dont remember svt has built a few show vehicles that never made it either the boss mustang (i think around 94-95) that was a fuel injected boss 429, and how about the twin turbo 351 (around 87-88) that roush built a ford thought about making.
what an awsome job - your boss comes to you and basically gives you a shop and a blank check and tells you to build a hot rod to take to car shows and to take to track days for magazines. he should pay them!

I have had all types of cars and trucks in my limited (almost 10) years of driving, and been a semi-gearhead for longer than that....I had Iroc's, Big lifted show trucks, and even a couple imprts. I am not really partial to any car company as I think most of them have something good to offer and I love competition. Sadly, I think that the new SSR is IMO one of the ugliest things I have ever seen. http://www.chevyssrforum.com/chevy_s...show_pics2.htm[/URL]

This might cheer you guys up a bit:

American Sports Car to Challenge Ferrari Again
http://go.msn.com/nl/123022.asp
Carpoint Consumers voting online selected the Ford GT40 Concept
"Best of Show" at the 2002 North American International Auto
Show in Detroit. Last week Ford announced production of a new
GT40 Sports Car, based on the concept, in time for Ford's
centennial celebration next June. The concept car is a modern
interpretation of the original GT40 race car that beat the
dominant Ferraris in the 1960s to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

I hope this is true. In case you guys don't know, the GT40 Concept car has a Lightning engine, and weighs something like 2000 pounds less than the Lightnings. Now if they can avoid pricing it like a Viper, we'll all be in luck.

considering that the cobra r with the 5.4 was $50k ( i think) the gt40 will probably be in viper price range. the concept car i read about about had a 32 valve 5.4 - 500 h.p. even if in had the 2v lightning motor it should fly.

And worth every penny- you can be sure.

Ford isn't gonna hang the 'GT-40' nameplate on a dog.

I can't wait.
