I only cut half of the bottom out. I used a dremel and followed around the sides. So..... about a 6x8 piece of plastic. It didn't take that long, it was tougher to take the damn thing out and put it back in. I really didn't see advantage to cut out the other side it's blocked anyway. Not much air travel.

God I LOVE the sc's whine!!!!
I had a K&N filter (-1 version) in my 2001 L but took it out because that "whistle" would drive me nuts . I love the s/c whine though. It would only make that "whistle" noise any time the s/c metter needle would be inbetween rest position (right above) and the word "vac". Does anyone know if this is common or fixable? Because I did notice the truck being more responsive with the K&N filter.

But, it does seem to have a little bettrer throttle response.

Summit is the cheapest, I've checked!

Hope this helps!

I have a "whistle" everytime you dip into the throttle with my single blade throttle body. Which i understand is normal, so anyone who doesnt like that sound, stay with the stock t/b. My best performance came from a modified stock airbox with a three inch hole and a tube running to the front of the truck for extra air. My lower part of my JL ramair was hooked up to the hole in the fender.
