Talking Nitto 555drs in the rain?

Thinking of trying a set of the Nitto 555 Extreme Drag radials because my F-1s are fading fast with my latest mods. My truck is a daily driver in the summer and I was wondering how the Nittos are in wet weather? Thanks, Jim

Not good. The 555-R's are soft, low tread profile drag radials. Just replace the F-1's with the REGULAR Nitto 555's all the way around. Nitto's provide superior wet-weather handling vs the F-1s and are all around possibly the best road handling tire in the market today.

Hmm I disagree....I thought my DRs handled better than the Goodyear F-1s on my T/A. Could be the difference in the vehicles tho.

Thumbs down

I have been running my 555Rs on the street, but as soon as I get another pair of wheels I am going back to my F1s, and save the Nittos for the strip. When the F1s wear out then I'm going to put on the regular 555s, as MoP recommends, for the street. The Rs do not handle that well in the dry, and I would imagine that they are atrocious in the wet. And they wear out extremely fast. Get the 555s, and save the Rs for the track.

Wink

Thanks guys, Sounds like I might give the Nitto 555s a try or maybe just get two more F-1s. Jim

Cool Check with the manufacturer's information...........

My TA drag radials (275/35R17) were terrible in wet weather. After checking with Goodrich, they suggested the tires were not designed for wet pavement. No wonder they suck at rainy autocross events.

I had both the BFG Drag Radials and the Nitto Drag Radials on both of my TAs (96/98). The BFGs sucked anywhere but the track. The Nittos do not have the same big, smooth patch in the middle.

The Nitto DRs were a much better tire compared to the Stock Eagle F1 GS on the street, in all conditions.

Best 60' on the Nittos was 1.694
