Thumbs up C-Notch is DONE !!!

For more pics go to...http://nloc.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11469

I'd recommand this mod to anyone with a Bell Tech 3/4 kit. It's very easy to do and each side took about 2 hours to complete ( using air tools ). No more bottoming out

Rob, where did you get that C-notch from.

I think I would like to do that to prevent the bottoming out with my truck also.

Can that piece be welded on the frame?

Joe,

The support is from Western Chassis. Excellent quality !!!
Here's why this brace should only be bolted on...

As you can see the C-Notch brace is twice as thick as the frame. Welding it would only weeken the frame. The notch was worth 3 more inches of travel.

Hey rob, how much weight do you think that C-notch added.. HAHAHAHAHHAHA I'm so kidding. HEHEHEHEH

How much was that bad boy, its sound like the ticket for my truck. I can't tell you how many times I've bottomed out.

P.S. Did you get my E-mail. I want to ask you some things about your long tube headers, I'm getting some soon.

Ah very nice i am lowering mine soon this spring. I was wanting to do a notch but was worried about how it would turn out. After seeing yours i am going to do it for sure now.

I have a friend that owns a custom show that really wants to do airbags .... So not sure i might end up with them this spring still.

Can you point me to a link or a # i can call to find out how much that is going to run me for one?

Thanks

DAMN! that seems like allot of cash for just C notches. I bet I could have TRZ make them cheaper for us, and better too probably. they are suspension experts!

Would/could you please explain why welding would weaken the frame, the frame isn't heat-treated

SVTRobG,
Glad, I was some help to you for the part numbers. I forgot to tell you with the Bell Tech 4 inch drop, Western Chassis C-section on the rear. I did some more trimming with the Plasma cutter. I cut out some metal above the rear end and drive shaft to prevent the rear end and drive shaft from hitting the supports under the bed of the truck. I noticed someone did not trim his supports under his bed and his driveshaft broke. He has a silver Lightning. I found out by looking after drivng around and 1/4 mile racing the rear end and drive shaft can bottom out and cause damage with out trimming some of the supports under the bed.

Thumbs up

DJY,

I have a set of JDM traction bars that I still have to put on so I doubt I'll have any problems with axle wrap but I'll take your advice and check things out when I put the truck back down.

Fast Gator,

The reason I wouldn't weld that support is because that rear frame section is about an 1/8" thick and it's mild steel.

Joe,

The part # for the C-notch is 2129. The quality is top notch, the welds are real nice and it fits great. You also get Grade 8 hardware with the kit. You can't beat it for $ 130.00.

Well I guess it would be worth it then with all the bolts to, those grade 8's are $$$$.

Hey rob, I got a plasma cutter at my office. you should have told me, you could have used it. I got two of then accutally!

DJY1 or RT, if you did it over lowering your trucks would you do it any different way?

I want to do mine as soon as the snow is gone, but just want to do it right. Hopefully will have my 20's by then and i like djy1's look.

Thanks
