I disconnected my battery the other day to install some lights, and now the alarm is not working. The doors will lock and unlock when I hit the button but the alarm does not work. This has happened before and it took months to fix itself, but is there a way to reset the alarm or make it work again?

 

Sounds like a Valet mode to me....

Which alarm do you have?? If you have a Ford system 4, I'v got the info on how to rearm.

 

I still have the factory alarm that came with the 99.

 

I didn't know they came with alarms from the factory??????

The L's don't come with a alarm, so hopefull
it is the system 4.

Disconnect the battery, wait 2 minutes or more,
turn the ignition key to run, reconnect battery,
get in shut the door and shut the key off, press the lock down on the drivers side door.

This is how I've been rearming mine. You may also be able to find some more info by doing a search for reinitializing the system 4 alarm.
I know who makes these alarms for Ford, if you
need that info email me.

They DONT come with an "alarm"

They have keyless entry and they have a coded key. That means the doors open with remote and the key has a "transponder" in it that is read by the system before the truck will start.

An alarm typically has door and hood switches and motion sensors ect.. The Lightning doesnt have that from the factory. But there are Ford add ons that add those feature and others like the system 4 listed above..
