Question 4.10 rear end?

Anyone change the rear end gearing for a 99 or 00 L? What is involved? Chip re-burn, etc? Thanks.

Yea, I changed mine. You will need a chip reburn to recalabrate your speedo. I thought it was well worth it. This thing is a beast off the line.

Yes, you will need a chip reburn. Also traction bars and stickier tires, no way the F1s can hook up with 4.10s.

Cool 4:10 gear kits

Mark here (LFP). My 00 is a daily driver and I have had 4:10's in for almost 2 yrs. I wouldn't trade them. Speedo will have to be corrected with a chip or a reburn of you current chip. Our kits come complete with gears, pinion& carrier shim kit, new pinion nut, seal, 4oz FMS friction modifier.
Installations available for those in the Houston area.

I think the traction difference is hardly noticable with the 4.10's. I had the Auburn Posi put in at the same time which is supposed to help alittle so this might be why, but off the line, the traction is not that much worse. It is more noticable when taking corners somewhat slow though. But again, I will tell you, I think it is well worth it. The gas mileage has only lost alittle over a mile per gallon and I have had her up to 130 with a little more juice left to spare. It is not as bad as people say they are. It is always people who don't have them that dog the 4.10's, but I have yet to hear someone that has them say anything negative.
