where are you guess getting the items needed for the keypad mod??

 

Had it happen w/ my Camaro years ago. Now, I don't trust any vehicle. If I step out for a moment, I leave the door ajar. Or awindow.

 

--turn key on
--press unlock button on door three times
--turn key off
--press unlock button on door three times
--turn key back on
--horn will chirp
--press unlock then lock ( horn chirps once when deactivated,
twice when activated)
--turn key off ( horn will chirp to confirm)

Note: complete all steps within 30 seconds or you will have to
start over

 

One of the first things I did when I got my truck new was to disable the autolocking feature. I used to work at AVIS, and I had to make many runs to let people into the cars after the keys got locked in, and most of the vehicles were running. One trip was to a bride that was trying to get to the church for her wedding!

Keypad mod costs about $120.
Can get everything at dealer(Color matched door handle and keypad). Since you have a 2000 the hookup is already in the door.It takes about an hour to install and I promise you will love it. Hope this helps.
