Speaking of noises, how about this one...

When my truck is idling in park, everything sounds good. But as soom as I put it in gear with my foot on the brakes it gets a lot noisier under the hood. Hard to describe exactly what it sounds like. Have any of you noticed this or is it just my truck?

How about a soft "jingling" sound under light to moderate acceleration.
I notice this when the motor is cold-though most of the time I'm listening to music, so I forget about it

That sounds similar to what I am talking about. Not really a vibration, but definately a mechanical noise. Thought maybe it was the blower, but it only does it when sitting still while in gear. I put it in gear the other day with my emergency brake on to see if I could tell where it was coming from, but no luck.

Blower cavitation? If that's what it is, would it matter if it's in gear or not? Normally when you speak of cavitation it's referring to blocking off the inlet to a positive displacement pump, sorta like the throttle body does to the blower. Is that what you are talking about?

My truck does the same thing! You're right, the noise is very hard to describe...I though my L was the only one that did this

Had the same problem a year ago drove me crazy. Put the truck in gear it was noisey. Put it in park it was quite. Thanks to some of the members on the board I found it. If you lift the hood and put your ear on the right side of the super charger there is a selinoid. It sounds like a ratteling grinding noise. have someone in the truck put the truck in gear and listen. It will be noisey. Put it back in park it goes away. Be carefull when you do this. The noise is normal. Get back to us let us know if this is the problem. Bob

Are you talking about the boost dump solenoid? Also, you are refering to the right side as the driver or the passenger side? I think the boost dump solenoid is on the driver's side. If the noise is the soleniod and is normal, is there anything that can be done to make it quieter?

I'll do what you recommend this afternoon!
Thanks

Sorry 01Lightning, I thought you were being funny. I haven't heard that one yet, but I do keep a pretty good ear on the noises the beast makes. So far the only out of the ordinary noises I have heard is the exhaust leak like sound, marbles or rocks rolling around in a pie pan, and a BAD noisy supercharger belt. It wasn't a squeal, more like a noisy rod when the truck was returning to idle. That went away when I got a new supercharger belt.
