01Lightning, I wasn't trying to be sarcastic in a mean way, I thought you were being sarcastic as well. I have heard some strange noises, and I definitely watch this board to find out the issues. There is a GREAT chance that one or more of us out here have or will experience every possible combination on these great (yet still evolving) beasts!!!

Please don't take offense to my sarcasm, it was meant all in fun.

No offense taken!

It sounds like these guys have heard this noise before! If there is something that can be done to make this noise go away, I am going to do it.

01: If it's 'cavitation', a chip will/can take care of it. The tuner raises the idle rpm a tad.

Sounds like cavitation to me. I started getting it when I added the pulley on.

Can someone explain what causes this cavitation? I am assuming this means the blower is starving for air, right? When I think of cavitation, I think of a hydraulic pump trying to pull fluid through a dirty filter - it actually pulls the oxygen out of the oil, and this can damage the pump. Can cavitation damage the blower?

Now that I think about it on a 2000 4X4 with an Airraid filter kit, I had a similar sound in park and in D at idle. It was almost a hum/very high pitched rumble for lack of a better way to say it. I believe it was the cavitation that everyone is discussing. I took it to Ford and they wouldn't even look at it with the intake on it. No warranty issues, just they said it was the different filter and the amount of air thru the MAS, and that they had seen it before. I know the L's are completely different, but the problem/noise sounds the same. I have a filter kit on the L and so far, no noise. I also have a chip and maybe the tuner has already compensated for this particular problem.

Artie- I think I may have that same exact noise. I can't confirm whether or not it was there when the truck was new, since I didn't see it until it had 19,000 miles on it. I was kinda thinkin exhaust hanger or something. In my truck, it only happens when there is 2 or more people in the truck.

I had about the same noise you are describing, I found that my bottom pulley on the crank was loose. If you can move you blower pulley by hand at all you might have the same problem.

I only heard the rattling sound when it was in gear at a idle. The minute that I started to take off from a stop the noise went away.

Hope this helps.
