Hey ARTIE- is your noise under the truck, or engine compartment? Mine seems to be under the truck, I would estimate that it's near where the bed meets the cab. I didn't check my transmission mounts yet. ALSO: I found that if you go about 75-80 and kick off the overdrive to slow down, the same vibration happens. I sometimes feel and hear it when I'm cornering quickly. It feels to me like something has a loose bolt and it's bracket is bouncing between the frame and the bolt-head.

T-Bone- did it seem to happen more once the truck was warmed up? I tend to notice mine more once I've driven for 15minutes+, and come to a stop. Sometimes it just makes the noise, (in gear, at a stop), and sometimes it happens only when you give it a little gas... like 50 RPM above idle, while holding the brake. Really wierd thing with mine is that as soon as the passenger gets out of the truck, the noise stops for the most part. Get back in, noise again.

Guess I am too freaked out to get under there while it's running, let alone while it's in gear.. guess it's a trust issue with that :-)

Primary chain rattle? This is a possibility with the soft "jingling" sound. Almost similar to spark knock.

Hey, i don't know if its the same noise

Hey 01L,

I"m also getting a noise when i put my truck in drive. To me it sounds like bells ringing but it's not too loud though. And by the way, i think i'm gonna put my factory muffler back on.. I like the sound of the magnaflows but i can tell its robbing me of my torque somehow. I don't know if it's the crimped bends at the pipe to the tips or the muffler itself. I went to the performance shop at my nearest Ford dealer and they claim to never have heard of the muffler.. Anyway, I think the SVT tuned muffler may flow a little better than the 12468 magnaflows..

Question

THE NOISE IN MINE IS COMING FROM ENGINE BAY AREA. ITS ALMOST LIKE A BINDING SOUND LIKE IF YOU WERE TO TORQUE UP THE DRIVETRAIN JUST BEFOR THE TIRES BRAKE LOOSE. ITS A HARD NOISE TO DESCRIBE. BUT MINE IS FROM THE FRONT!! ARTIE

VyPeR,

Mine would make the sound when it was hot or cold. Like someone said it sounded like a bell ringing with someone holding their hand on the bell so the tone would not last long.

It would only do it at a idle in gear because that is when the RPM's would flucuate (sp?) causing the pully to shake back and forth allowing it to rub against the retaining bolts. When you are crusing or taking off from a stop the pulley is under a load and you will not hear the rattleing of the pulley against the bolts.

If you can move the blower pulley at all by hand then you have the same problem, If not then it is something different. The blower pulley should not move at all by hand. With the belt on and motor shut off of course.
