What's the time frame to Re-Tighten our sparkplugs to make sure they are tight?

I remember reading a post with some suggestions?

How many miles do you have on your truck?

3 plugs on my 00 lightning came loose at 4500 miles and then again at 8500. Torqued to spec. Replaced the stockers in my 01 with NGKS been fine for 4,000miles.

Talking They voided mine today, LOL, HEHE

I went to the SVT dealer today to have my spare tire hoist replaced. They did replace it for me, but told me they were going to void my powertrain warranty.

I guess they didn't like the long tube headers/exhaust, the 6# lower pulley, the upper pulley, chip/filter, throttle body, breather, electric fan/water pump, traction bars, lowered suspension, QA1 shocks, driveshaft loop, boost guage, all the rubber around the wheel wells, or the dragslicks in the back.

They did like the rear spoiler, LOL

It is OK I only have 1300 miles left on the warranty anyways, and I am sure the built motor and trans will hold up just fine.

Thats pretty funny i wish we could just go to the dealer with all the mods on when and if we have a problem. I like how you still had the drag slicks on to. What about if you came in with a cage for warrenty work wonder what they would say hehe.

No the slicks were in the bed not on the axle. They must have opened the tailgate while they were working on the truck.

Still pretty funny though. You could have been like yeah but the truck has never been raced. Did you still have your dial in on your window hehe .

Didn't they do the same thing to JL? His spare hoist broke and they voided his warranty...

Are they able to "void" your warranty if nothing is wrong?

I think you guys should keep in mind that this is a FORD DEALER issue, not (so much) a FORD MOTOR COMPANY issue.

My dealership replaced my head (blown plug) under warrantee with mods in place (including chip).

I even had shorty headers on which obviously needed to be swapped over to the new heads. They broke the header gasket so the service manager, after calling around, called me to ask where I got the headers so they could get new gaskets!

If you go to a "bad" dealer, you're gonna get screwed. They are the ones that start thinking about voiding your warrantee and they are the ones that have the regional rep come over to inspect your truck.

Don - even though it doesn't matter, you should go back and argue for the hell of it. Tell them they can't void your warrenty unless the mods caused the problem which we all know it didn't. Then politely remind them it's more work for them to void you warrenty, since it's highly unlikely you'll be back for any powertrain work.

thats just funny

Low_redL - like everyone said, use this as an excuse to build up the block nice and strong.

hey everybody i am new to this forum and would like to tell my story. i bought a 2000 lightning
2 months ago. two weeks later i blew the #2 plug
taking everything in the cylinder with it. i took it to the dealership with a huge chip on my
shoulder. the truck was modded with upper pulley,
chip, exhaust and air intake. the dealership told
me i was runnning to much boost and my warranty
was voided. i told them (i am being polite hear)
they were full of poop. i have yet to even romp
on the pedal and it blew when i started the truck
up. it turns out that four of the remaining 7 stock plugs were very loose. the dealership picked
up the bill. 2100.00 dollars later i get my truck
and have romped on it ever since.
i don't think this is a modded issue, since this a
ford issue. i would throw a stink with ford.
sorry to hear about your truck. i sympathize with
you. good luck. scott

loose 2kL plugs?

Have a red 2k with only 8600 miles. It's just started idling a little rough. could loose plugs be causing this? Truck is stock with just K&N panel put in at 4500mi. since stock plugs are supposed to be 100k plugs, will deler check & tighten under warranty? If fuel filter, will dealer replace at my mileage. Isn't factory spec 15k? Thanks for any info.

OK, what's the consensus? Are stock plugs OK with a chip being the only mod?
