Today is a dark day

I went out on a drink run for tonight and was fueling up at the local gas station. I could hear the automated car wash going but didn't really think anything of it. I used the little click thing on the gas nozzle so it shuts off when the tanks is full. I'm just leaning up against my truck daydreaming when I noticed what was coming out of the automated car wash. Someone was putting their Lightning through an automated car wash! What kind of people do they let buy lightnings? I have used an automated car wash once and that was when I was in Kansas heading home. My truck was less than a month old and I wanted it clean for my family to see. It was stupid to do because it put a damn scratch on the cover to my bed. grrr I think they should take Lightnings from people like that and give them to me who can't afford to get a lightning right now.

Somebody should come up with a Top Ten Lighting owner sin list or simply put "SVT Ten Commandments"

"Though Shall Not Covet Thy Neighbors Lightning"

*sigh* That just makes me more depressed.

*pops the top on another Oatmeal Stout*

I don't own an SVT though so if it's the SVT Ten Commandments I don't have to follow them

Exclamation

Lighten up.

Not everyone has the time to hand wash and put 10 coats of zaino on thier Lightning twice a week.

When I have time and its not 28 degrees out I hand wash it in the driveway. When its too cold or I dont have time, I get it clean any way I can. I also have been known to ( shhh ) Valet park... Oh god just open the earth and swallow me up .... I have sinned...

I guess now would NOT be time to say that My service writer told me he and his mechanic took my lightning about 10 miles to get lunch. You know what I didnt care. He sure as hell cant beat on it any worse than me....

Ok back to the Champagne

I took mine though a touchless auto car wash once. The only scratch I got was the one *I* put on the LF rim when I stepped on the gas too hard and rode up that stupid rail. I got a little less paranoid after that but I'm still pretty bad.

Alright... New Year's resolution... lighten up like Doug said and stop driving to my parent's house to borrow their car whenever I want to go somewhere with crowded parking.

Ok, back to what is going to be one hell of a hangover

Ermmm Touchless car washes have to use strong detergent in order to clean without... touching and the soap strips your wax and removes the oils from the paint...

I'd rather see you putting your truck through one with brushes if you aren't going to be waxing it... Least you can polish those scratches out

By Law you are now required to turn your L over to Intel486 because you failed to wash your L by hand and therefore opened your L up to long term paint damage.

See I take better care of my XLT than some of you L owners *sidesteps to cover the scratches on his tailgate made by his belt buckle*

I think everone should lighten up. Its only a f-150 with a stong motor. I see 4x4 f-150s sell for way more than a lightning. Dont get me wrong I love mine, But reality check time.

Here is CT, they stopped letting people with open bed trucks go through many of the car washes, we had one guy go through with a Steel Choker (cable) that some how go picked up and wrapped in the spinning brushes, imagine you were the next guy to go through with the Choker wrapped in the brushes, I will always use the booths.

Touchless car washes use the same soap that you get when u pull into the bay, Its the Hi pressure nozzles that clean the car, Why do you think theres so many of them.

And also define Oils in your paint? I didnt know it was a leather sofa?

I guess it depends on your perspective of what a "dark day" is, but running my truck through a car wash does not make the top 100 list.

As far as taking the Go_rila? I'll pretend that I didn't read that, but the next time that is even suggested, I will send MRBBQMAN to your door with a personalized can of whoopa$$. BBQ, you need to get control of your people over there.

Sorry, but i promised the family, i would not get involved in another car wash thread. the last time, we were horrified to find a flaming sombrero on our front lawn. i think it was a threat, or something

It's just a damn truck with a half-assed Ford paintjob, not a trailer queen.

I spent one summer trying to keep it clean by handwashing. It was a waste of time. I've been running it through the car wash, for the last 1 1/2 years and it still looks fine.

I wouldn't run a black one through a wash with brushes, but on a red, silver or white, I don't see the problem. Any little swirls I get, come right out with a bit of polishing.

When I repaint it, I'll pay someone to handwash it.

Bottom line is, if anyone gives a half a hoot about their ride, and has the time and the means, they won't take it through an automatic car wash. I'm talking about any car, even my plain ole regular F150, not just God's gift to driver's, the Lightning.

Anyone who spends that much money on such a beautiful truck, yes I refer to our Lightnings, should NEVER put it through automated wash no matter what color it is. If you care about what your truck is going to look like, you should wash it by hand, isn't that the least it deserves after putting out the power to keep us all coming back for more?!?!? We should never shove it through an auto wash to get beat up by those brushes, anyone who does, in my opinion, shouldn't have taken on such a truck as the Lightning in the first place....Just my two cents....
