I use the booths. I make sure that I find a booth with a stiff bristled brush a little worn. I turn on the wheel wash(green stuff) first. I spray a little all over the truck then I make sure I get the wheels. I scrub the tires and wheels making sure I get all the grime then carefully go over the entire truck. I use a circular motion with the brush, going over the truck twice. Then rinse.
I save money for the mods by skipping the pre-rinse, wax, and when the quarters run out fore the soapy brush I keep on scrubbing.

I PAID for it, so I'll wash it any way I want. I have only hand washed my 99 two times! I drive through every two weeks, sometimes sooner if it rains. Oh yea, I waxed it once myself, I paid them (at the car wash) to do it last time. Now if they just had a drive through for my airplane! You have not lived until you wash the bottom of an airplane with the dirty water and dirt and grime falling on you as you wash.

I always wash my truck by hand.I love to run my hands all over her and push my fingers in all those nooks and crannies. We both love that quality time.

I don't understand why it's such a big deal how you wash it. Jeez, it's just a car/truck. Oh, it's true that it has a Lightning badge, but big deal. Driving it on a road course several times a year does more damage than a bunch of car washes.

Here's my perspective: Trucks are like screwdrivers - they're nothing more than a simple tool. If it does the job, then it has value.

I must go now. A set of "new" screwdrivers that I bought 10 years ago are in the garage and they may be suffering from too much humidity. I must bring them in the house and polish them.

The Shadow knows................. (I heard that on an ol' AM radio a long time ago--you young whippersnappers won't know what I mean )

Spike: screw drivers, high humidity, garage--hmmmmm-might wanta send them houndawgs back thru house-breakin' school

We all may be just 'truck' drivers, but we can surely can get intense--I love it!

Well, I was putting almost 120 miles a day on my truck. SO I didnt have the time to wash it regularly. Ive been through the automated wash many times. NOT BECAUSE IM LAZY!! BUT BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE ANY FRIGGIN TIME! Does that make me less of a lightning owner?

Unhappy

bl,
I know how you feel. The sucky thing is I am real **** about how nice my truck looks and for the past 3 months I can count the times the truck has been washed on one hand. That bothers me, which is why im getting a daily driver mobile, so I can take better care of the truck.

Its Kinda funny

Not all Automatic car washes Have brushes.

The coin wash auto laneJust Use a hi Pressure Spray.
( but i guess the Hi pressure Is dangerouse cause it can Lift Paint)

The Coin wash/Do it yourself.
( who knows what the person used the brush for before you, Maybe he scrubbed off some Dirt, Oh My)

The Gas station Bristle Brush car wash.
( If it was my beater Maybe)

The Soft Cloth car wash.
( Im all about this one at times)

The hand car wash.
( They do it all, And i Nitpick every little spot, The towels and chamois are clean, I even get some look good on the tires and some smell Good in the inside, Its all good takes them 20 mins takes me over an hr.)

If i wasnt as busy and didnt have a life i could poddibly have time to wash it, i always dont so im stuck, 9 times outta 10 Im at the hand car wash every few days Cause i cant stand a dirty truck.

Well maybe I am not crazy for going out in 20 degree weather to wash my truck. I took it to the quarter car wash, and as soon as i drove out of the little booth, I got out and TRIED to dry it, but it was all ice. I left it in the garage for a few days to let the ice melt. And now I am recovering from a KILLER cold!
