Exclamation No Way

that it shaved about 10 lbs off the stock hood weight... LFP we need clarification on this.
I did my prefit before I sent it to get painted last night. And it is absolutely not lighter than stock. ***** the stock one weighs next to nothing. And yes it is functional. Not ram air, more like fresh air (sorry for stealing the name Sal ). Air enters the scoop, and is channeled through the underside of the hood then exits right over the air filter.

I persoanlly think that the shackers hoods are kinda boring! Its nice that they do what they do, but I just don't think there that hot. Kinda ugly unless you add some spice of color like RobG did. Even then I could care less for them.

I wish that damn cervinni came out with a ram air kit for my hood.

Same here killa i personally dont like the shaker hood and when the hood is closed the shaker scoop isnt big enouch that it sticks out enough. I like my Cervinis cowl hood. Once i get the truck back from the dealer to get my truck running again and the inter cooler recall and wiper recall done im gonna go get the silver racing stripes on my truck. I took some masking tape like my bodyshop guy said to see how i wanted the stripes layed out and looks good to me on the cowl hood wiil post pics when i get them done.

The stock hood is just formed sheet metal.....very thin. While the shaker hood is formed plexiglass.....like 1/4" to 3/8" thick.

Hey, how about a pic with the hood down so we can see what the finished product looks like. It looks kinda cool with the hood down with the hole in it, but a pic of the air cleaner stickin thru the hole would be nice, thanks...........................Phatford

IMHO, I think they look great, but will NOT add power.By the time you snake the inlets to the filter then the mass air....I think you get the picture.Too many bends=restriction=power loss=nice looking truck with less *****. Still like the looks, just not for me.

factory hood

the factory hood is actually aluminum that is why the aftermarket ones are heavier.

Factory hood is aluminum. Super light. Aftermarket hoods are usually fiberglass and sometimes steel. Either way you will never get a lighter hood that the stock one.

P.S. Mondo1, I tested my Shaker hood and it DOES work. Picked up 1 mph at the strip and the truck stayed a lot more consistent then before.

I believe you got another 1 mile per hour, but couldn't it have been for other reasons..ie: cooler temp, tailwind,60 ft. time, ect..??The consistancy, I do agree with, though. It still looks great!

Mondo,

I keep good records of my runs. The hood did help out on the top end. 60' and ET were normal but the mph went up and I had bad plugs in the truck as well. These hoods flow some good air on the top end for sure. You should see the top of my filter. It's pretty damn dirty

I've always loved the looks of a cowl hood. The fact that yours is opened to the engine is a great way to release those warm, under the hood temps!
