Any pics that show if the Scoop is functional ? It clearly doesnt feed the filter but does it cool the blower ?

Doug, look closer. It is funtional. But I dont think it will flow enough air to be really effective...

<----- Doesn't like at all... This is a Lightning, not an old CobraJet...

MadNess Dec 12, 2001 12:34 AM

I like it alot!

I disagree with those who dislike this setup. I think it looks great, plus it saves mucho weight, and brings cooler air into the filter.

I say way to go LFP.

How do you figure it saves "mucho" weight? How much do you think it saves? 6oz?

Yes it's functional

The air is channeled through the hood over to the filter.

I ran into Mark the other day and got a chance to see this set up first hand, and I have to say it is a great looking set up.

:D

Metal or Fiberglass?

thepawn Dec 12, 2001 01:31 AM

Its fiberglass...it dosn't save weight, it ways almost twice the stock hood.

It does look really sweet though.

There are only 2 hoods that are anywhere near close to the weight of our stock aluminum hoods, and those are the two carbon fiber hoods, they're each about 2lbs more then the stock hood.

All the fiberglass and steel hoods weigh more then the stock hood.

What happened to the old drag racer rule where "in order to achieve any ram-air effect, the opening must extend past/above the imaginary line that runs from the leading edge of the hood to the top edge of the windshield (hence the huge scoops on pro-stock)"? Really, shakers are more for look and maybe some cold air induction? Isnt that area "below the imaginary line" a vacuum?

Just what ive always been told.

EvilGuy Dec 12, 2001 07:40 AM

Pro-glass is going to come out with a closed airbox to make it fully functional. I think it only adds 60 dollars to the price.

MadNess Dec 12, 2001 07:45 AM

I was told

that it shaved about 10 lbs off the stock hood weight... LFP we need clarification on this.
