does anyone out there know for sure wether or not the truck will be redesigned in any way for the 03 model year??

 

Possibly.. Isn't the Ford rule of thumb: redesign every 4 years? :-P

 

I saw in Autoweek that F-150 redesign is not until 04.

 

that does sound probable,,, cause the last year of the harley,, at lleast that i know of is supposed to be 2003, last insider person i talked to said "just wait till 2003" after he heard me talking about the 02 and its blower. Just seeing if anyone knows how many years i have till i trade my truck in,, even though i love my truck, i'm addicted to having the newest looking stuff,, i was real pissed when i bought my ranger and the very next year they made them faster and better looking, i definately dont want to spend too much on mods for this truck and end up turning it in in only a year. I'm sure there will be spy photos and stuff as soon as anyone knows. I live very close to roush industries in Allen Park,, i remember when i was youger seeing a f150 lightning test truck before the 2nd gens were out, this one was black with an extended cab, still great looking though,, i drooled all over it. It was one of those vehicles that are all new and they put the extra padding and stuff on them to prevent spy photos from showing the end result of how it looks and stuff.

 

What makes you think that they are making an 03 Lightning??

 

The original plan was a 6 year run. Have never heard of any difference.

 

I have heard from a pretty reliable source that at this time, 03s will be the same as 02s. Well, maybe a few minor changes, but not a body or drivetrain redesign as originally planned.

 

04 redisign, three valve heads, and five speed tranny.

It would be definately a good thing to get more power out of any redesign, the more power the better of course but i wonder where they will go with the styling too. Dodge just made their trucks look more like a semi. I think it'll be interesting to see which direction they go in, or have already went in (usually design plans take a year or two of planning )

 

Autoweek stated redesign for F-150 in 04 and did not say that Ford would not make the Lightning. They didn't say anything about engines.

 

Since they are changeing the body in 04, I think that the 03 will the last modle year of the second generation Lightning. Look at the first gens...

 

Good point lightning boy. anybody have any sorta sneak peak pictures of what the 04 f-150 body might look like??

 

I read that svt was working on the next generations lightnings tha will come out after the new body design and new engine drive train design. This was supposably marked like 2006-2008. Maybe 2002 will be last year of production, maybe not. At this point, if ford can sell it, they will build it.

 

i know some have seen this picture...but maybe somewhere along these lines.....i heard it was gonna look like the explorer though just like the expedition is.
