Is the insurance for a L the same as a normal F150?

Personally, to avoid any possible claims problems, I would make sure they DO know it is a Lightning. You all know how picky about fine print insurance companies can be. To me saving a few dollars a year isn't worth potentially getting screwed if, God forbid, it get crashed or damaged.

When I gave my insurance co. the VIN on my L the lady said "Oh, you've got a lightning!", but the premium was the same as a standard F-150. I will guarantee that it will be much cheaper than your GT. Heck, the insurance on a Cobra is much cheaper than a GT! Believe me, I checked on both and ended up with a Cobra!

We have nationwide, when I thought I was gonna buy a used 2000 I called and got a quote on it. With a new GT my insurance would be well over 2k a year. From the current price of insurance on my Explorer, if I get a Lightning it goes DOWN $100 a year. I told her three times it was a Lightning. She said she knew what a Lightning was but they considered it an XLT or something like that, not as a performance vehicle.
