Is the insurance for a L the same as a normal F150?

I was looking at a 99 lightning today and the salesman told me that insurance companies insure it as a regular F150, he told me that one of his customers didnt belive him, but the guy called him back and told him it was true. Wouldnt that mean that they wouldnt pay as much in the case of a theft or it getting totaled out? Im not sure on how much insurance would cost but it will be replacing my 95 GT so hopefully it wont go up too much. I think rite now with my 89 5.0(storage insurance),and my GT im paying 50 bucks a month. Not bad considering im 20.

Give the insurance company more credit than that! When you give them the S/N of your vehicle it provides them information that it is a Lightning and not a standard F-150. I'm with State Farm and my rates are not the same as a standard F-150. If you find an insurance company that didn't know the difference, then in the event that you needed to make a claim, they would only treat it as a regular F-150.

From what I've seen on this board, it depends on what insurance company you are with. Like Peter said, when I gave my insurance company the VIN, they knew that it was an L.

It is VERY dependant on your particular insurance company. I was using Avomark.....they list it as an F150. But when I switched over to USAA, it specifically states SVT F-150 Lightning/SuperCharged 5.4L (and believe me...my premiums reflect it!).

Fortunately the insurance on my SS dropped, to that helped offset the cost.

I have Farmers insurance. And they rate it as a standard F-150. Bob.

Same $ as a regular F150 here. (State Farm)

States on the policy "Lightning", though.

Hey, until they figure it out, enjoy the discount....

I'm with State Farm also, and they usually ask what model it is. They are too lazy to look through the endless pages of F-series models they have!!! But the Lightning raised my rates $75 a year from my 99 XLT 4x4 ORP.

State Farm here also.
When she asked what trim i said XLT lariat ... $98/mo then added Lightning ... $108/mo. State Farm does know the difference.

It also could depend on what year it is.

Do you guys still get the utility discount? I get a $30/6month discount on my HD even though it isn't really a utility vehicle like a 4 x 4 or a SD. My insurance company is Allstate.

Looks like it depends on the campany, and even the agent within the company. My agent said ~750$/yr for the L, ~730$/yr for regular F-150.

same

my insurance for my 2000 lightning is almost exactly the same as it was for my 2000 explorer that I traded in. My policy and registration have it listed as "00 ford svt pickup"
