Snake:
You actually have to turn on Remote Administration. It's not turned on by default.
Plus, the remote user has to authenticate. Guest user won't work by default.

There is no need to buy XP to increase your internet speed if you are a cable or DSL user. Windows XP is faster for cable modem and DSL users because the TCP recieve window is set to a larger size (16k) by default, just like Windows 2000. Windows 95, NT4, 98, 98SE, ME, 2000, and XP users can get the an even better speed increase by increasing the TCP recieve window to 32,767.

all jokes aside, isn't XP's version a revamped Netmeeting?
No XP on our network, yet.

Bob:
SMS is cool. Loved coming in "stealth" and watching people work. Fun to reboot there machines and take control of the mouse pointer(tee hee hee...).
XP acutally has two remote utilities:
Remote Administration(help desk remote access)
and Remote Control(ala PC Anywhere).
My other favorite things about XP are:
1. Built in firewall utility(configurable for us geek-like one's).
2. Built in CD burner software functionality.
3. Built in compression utility like WinZip.
4. It allows IIS to run off of a CD(seriously).
Microsoft basically slapped the Justice Department in the face by integrating a few more "commerical" programs into their newest O/S. Go Microsoft!!
Most people would have just downloaded the commercial stuff off of the internet anyway.
