Question good soft bed cover????

I need a soft bed cover for my new L. I'd like one that can be easily removed when needed and would prefer one that clamps onto the bedrails instead of drilling holes.
Can anyone recommend a good brand and a good place to buy, either in the Tampa area or online.

Thanks!!!!

If you are talking tonneau covers, I have a Downey SST. It's held up great for a year and a half. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a soft top.

Sport Masters makes a nice one. Lifetime warranty on frame and 5 yr. on vinyl top. I think they are better than other brands.

Downey SST , I have a Downey Shop locally and they are awesome, I think lifetime on the frame and 5 year on the cover. took them 15 minutes to install. I'm sure they can ship it out , let me know and I'll get you the number.

I have used Extang soft tonneau covers on my past 3 trucks and I think they are the best around. The bows that span across the bed are made of bar stock aluminum that takes a lot to make them collapse under a heavy load. the rails for them do clamp onto the top rails on the boxand can be installed in about 30 minutes. With the flareside box that our trucks have, each of the bows are labled for proper placement on the clamps.

Hope this helps.

I have a Truxxedo. It clamps on and has aluminum support rods the whole length. It rolls up easily, and still allows for security, because you can't open it without opening the tailgate. I believe thier website is the same as thier name.

Another vote for Extang. Their "Tuff Tonno III" is similar to the factory L cover in that it is snapless. I've heard nothing but good about Extang and I'm about to order the tuff tonno III myself. Still looking for the best deal.

......Now comeonsecurity with a soft top. LOL A pocketknife, hell even a rock will corrupt your security! If you want security, we all know that means a Hard Cover!

Ideally, I'd like a hard cover. But I have 2 german shepherds, and they ride in travel kennels in the back occasionally, so that would mean the hard cover would have to be easily removable.
I have seen the truxedo, extang, and the downey. With the snapless ones, they use velcro right??? How does the velcro hold up?? Any advantages with snaps or velcro??
My local auto parts store can order me a Lund for $265, but I am still looking.

I had them all. There is only one top that has the alum. bows stiched right in the cover (and its the thickest cover with both sides laminated). That is the Access cover. It also has a commercial grade aluminum end lip that clicks into the locking position with no exposed hardware and it also clamps in.It is by far the highest quality soft cover I have purchased to date.It folds up and closes in less than 30 seconds..and the best thing is you don't have to store the bows!It is a bit pricey, though( somewhere around $435) but it is a quality peice.

Thumbs up Sportmaster hinged tonneau

Another vote for the Sportmaster hinged tonneau ($295 from Summitt).
I had a Lund Premier on my 99, held up real well but was a pain to get off and on (like all snap-on covers).
I bought the Sportmaster for the 01 and have no complaints. Top quality materials, awesome warranty (5 year cover, lifetime frame!), one handle unlocks the cover and lift cylinders raise it...pretty cool, much like the hard covers. You can also remove the two hinge pins and the whole cover lifts off...no more snapping! My two cents...

Has anyone used the Lund Elite? It is TRUE snapless, has rubber seal that presses into the rail.

I purchased on for my 97 stepside, it fit great! The rails were curved to match th box. The only problem I had with it was that there was a hole in it. I had to send the complete cover, rails and all, back to Summit for replacement. The replacements had the correct cover but the rails were straight, would not fit. I ended up sending them all back for a refund. FYI I still have a set of rails in the garage if someone needs them, non curved left and right.

Any way I would like to have for the L but do not want to go into the same hassle. Price was $205 from Summit.

I have the factory installed cover and it's awesome! It comes off and on in seconds and it is made tough to last. It fits tight too.
