A/F Ratio
Question for those in the "know": I am getting a 4 lb pulley to replace the 2 lb'er I currently have. JL stated in another thread this required a reburn b/c it leaned the a/f ratio out. I am also thinking about installing a 160 degree 'stat, which causes the a/f to go rich. If I do both of these at the same time, shouldn't they "cancel" out?
Thanks for any info.

If you really want to do it right then I would put the goodies on then have your A/F checked. Sure, it may be a little hassle to get a sensor bung welded in (before the cats) and find someone with a decent monitor. But every motor is a little different and responds differently to mods.
Give your tuner the info like A/F (at various rpms), altitude, gas quality and whatever else they may ask for and you'll get a chip that is tuned alot better than off the shelf. Your tuner will probably think your pretty cool and serious too!
Go to the trouble to do it right and yu will not be second-guessing yourself. I'm sending mine back tomorrow for a minor tweak that will mean HP at the wheels.
Good Luck and talk to your tuner.

Anyone remember that album & group?

Just ship your chip to JL with your list of mods and your A/F will be fine. I've seen the A/F vary some between trucks, but not enough to cause a problem. JL puts enough of a buffer it won't be a problem.
Also, the A/F monitor just temporarily replaces your existing O2 sensor. I've ran one on mine quite a few times.

The Winner is MRBBQMAN!
99svt - you can do it that way but taking out the sensor could give you some error codes. You are also right that tuners will get you in the ballpark with a buffer. I just like knowing exactly where I am at, and, a tuner who plays with the A/F and measures HP will end up with more HP than a chip that is just in the ballpark.
Perhaps I'm to **** about this stuff but I know what my experience has been with bikes and now the L.

Thanks for all the info guys.
BBQ, you are a riot as always!
The problem with the a/f monitor is I do not have a place within 200 miles that can do this for me. I would LOVE to be able to do this, though.
99svtlightning,
I would, but I do not have one of his chips.

wrightlightning,
...or whoever you bought your chip from
.
NeedFourSpeed,
I agree, but not everyone lives near a tuner or shop like us.
IMO, You can get very, very, close to the A/F ratio you want just by stating your mods to your tuner. These trucks can be a little different, but it's not like your building a stroker w/ different heads, cam, etc.
