Anybody race a S2000
I knew most people would post BS on the top speed of the s2k so I will post a little video for you guys. (You guys like speed !!) Actually this guy is doing about 175 mph. Really I didn't believe it either at first but there is really no way to doctor a video like this one. Does anyone know who I can send this video to it is about 5mb. (to post it) I know this is a Lightning forum but I just felt like I need to show that I am not BS'ing anyone. By the way if something had to go it probably would not be the L, but the S2K. Peace
His mods are posted below:
Vracing header, full exhaust line, uncatalysed
Mugen ECU, thermostat, radiator cap
These mods may be worth 15hp peak at most. Even that number would be stretching it quite a bit.

Hey guys, I love it when a plan goes together. Here is the link below :

There are actually two videos a 175 mph one and a 167mph one. In my opinion, these guys are crazy but I guess that felt like they needed to prove a point to some non-believers. As an aside, the s2k actually revs to about 9300 or so and in 6th that works out to about 174 or so. Enjoy.

I need to reiterate though: A stock S2000 will barely reach 150 PEGGED.
And, neither will one w/ just the mods you listed. I'm not doubting you, just the guys who are lying that produced these videos.

BFB- I guess it is inconclusive then. I haven't taken mine up that high so I can't speak from experience. I really have a hard time thinking that the 175 mph video is doctored. Not saying that it isn't but I guess everyones car is different. I know people too that say they were pegged at 150. Not out of rpm, just out of power. There are also many others that say they have been well over 150 and even 160. We all know that some people tell tall tales sometimes. I usually dispute claims, but to me videos as in plural provide solid proof. That is like saying some lightning guys doctored a 12 second video. I guess some people are a little more skeptical than others. I don't know the conditions of that guys run but theoretically 160-175 is possible for a stock or slightly modded s2k. If it is doctored, this guy did his homework matching all speeds and revs perfectly.

BFB- Now I see where your coming from man. We all know people who like to downplay their mods. That is some serious speed, so a lot of S2K guys were skeptical about that guys mods too. It definitely seems like you have a reasonable amount of experience with both the L and the S2k.(Thanks for the unbiased commentary) I just wanted to point out that although the car may not have a lot torque it is definitely no punk at higher speeds. The L definitely has a lot more performance potential than the s2k however a Supercharged S2K is supposed to trap the quarter at about 110.(Which is not slow by any means) I haven't taken mine to the track so I can't confirm, but an additional 10 mph in trap speed definitely means your making a great deal more power. Peace
Back to the topic, it appears that in general Ls will usually beat an S2000 in a straight line race (assuming stock v. stock). Once you start adding mods to ANY car all bets are off (although I think the L will respond better to mods for less money). Regardless, S2000s are undoubtedly sweet cars...small tight convertible with great handling and low 14 second performance from a 4 banger stock? Yeah, that rocks, and I'd take one in a heartbeat (not over my L though).
As for "165-170 mph"...I assumed 12gage was referring to a "stock" S2000 and I'm very skeptical. I just don't think they have enough power (just MHO though). Modified? Well, sure, but that's kinda pointless since it's true of nearly any sports car (enough mods will get you up there at some point). Anyway...if what you are telling me is the S2000 will pull an L once the L hits 4th gear (i.e. past 120 or so)...OK, maybe it's true, but at that point you can have it because it will have to be a street race and those kinds of speeds on the street (or highway or wherever) are nuts.
And as for the idea of strapping a supercharger on top of a 4-cylinder engine that is already highly engineered and tuned for max performance at 9,000 rpm stock...nuts. I would be cringing and gritting my teeth waiting for a "boom, clang, clang, clang, rumble, rumble, rumble" sound every time I passed 7,000 rpm. I'm sure some guys have done it (and maybe had luck with it), but better them than me.
