Your story was making some sense and had a lot of truth to it until you stated the above quoted comment.

That is pure BS! Stock those things are lucky to get 150 pegged.

Are you talking about modified S2000's, though? Okay, then yeah.

lots of power for a little motor, but i have personally watched 2 of them blow up their motors, and my buddy says that he saw 2 more in NJ do the same thing. from what i hear the motors last about 15,000 miles...if that. thats what 9g will do to a motor

BFB go take a hike wont you. The data quoted is not fudged in any way. You have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to #'s of the S2000's. So please don't tell people what to post and what not to post. They are slower, stock for stock, to an L. Period.

I just bought one for my wife. I have never been too crazy about Hondas. I mean they are good cars, but they never were particularly attractive, performed well or were in any way exciting. Nothing else Japanese besides an NSX interests me very much .

But this Honda is really a fun car to drive, adequate torque for around town but almost the exact opposite of my L. It weighs about 2,800 lbs (240hp.) and handles better better than any car I've owned or driven. Really fun from 6200 to 8900 RPM's. Kinda like a minature Indy car. A guy I know also has both and a nice '98 C5 convertible. He likes his S2000 and Lightning better. All three offer some very serious bang for the buck.

No matter if its an L or S2000 there will always be some pompous bozo who thinks they have the baddest vehicle on the planet. But most of the S2000 guys have a healthy respect for the L. From watching both boards, reliability is probably about the same as a Lightning. A handful of L.s have also needed new engines (I suspect from boost on a cold engine).

One thing is indisputable, the Lightning has way more potential for the quarter mile. Even with a supercharger the S2000 isn't that much quicker than stock. The L. would be in the 11's for less money.

WTF?

The data quoted is not fudged in any way.
The data posted is HONDA's #'s. I've seen MANY an S2000 run better #'s than those from the factory.

You have no idea what you are talking about when it comes to #'s of the S2000's.
I don't do I? I said I'd post more when I had a chance. I'm still going to post that eventually, but I need you to shut your trap for a moment while I reply to your childish remarks.

#1: Owner of this S2000 is a personal friend who races w/ me about everytime I go.

#2: His S2000 would run w/ my '99 truck up to 115 or so, and after that it outran my truck (fwiw, I traded my '99 L in on my new '01 L).

#3: He's produced better #'s than other Lightnings on the track on the same day.

So please don't tell people what to post and what not to post. They are slower, stock for stock, to an L. Period.
Since you like to race bench/rag style lets take #'s from MT:

2000 F150 Lightning:

Sixty arrives in a pavement wrinkling 5.6 seconds, and the quarter mile takes a scant 14.1 seconds with a terminal speed of 96.5 mph
Power to weight ratio: 12.97

2000 Honda S2000

It only took the S2000 5.8 seconds to reach 60 mph, and it did the quarter mile in 14.2 at 98.1
Power to weight ratio: 11.48

Now, you wanna quit bench racing and compare timeslips from track data of people who can REALLY drive both of these vehicles?

Hey, and quit taking things so damn personal.

Post

I read a lot and post little. My truck is stock, but I have been through an engine swap and various other typical Lightning problems. So I know my way around a Ford dealership. But lately, it seems, that some people on this board choose to take any opinion or thought, differing from theirs, as a personal attack on their automotive expertise.

This board, in my opinion, serves two distinct purposes: 1) Educating Lightning owners as to how to make their trucks run faster. and 2) Educating Ford owners on how to take on their Ford service centers so as to receive the proper and necessary service to keep their vehicle running as a $30,000, high performance, vehicle should operate.

My point is, a negative reply to a post written in good faith, speaks volumes about the person replying. Like my mother always said, "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all".

I raced a silver S2000 a little bit a ago at a RSD night at Great Lakes dragaway.

I gave him 7 spots and the bust and I still walked his A$$ by 5 spots at the end. Now Sure I wasn't spraying and I'm not sure what I ran (the clocks where off) but I would say it was around a 12.6 to 12.7 run. It was nice and cold that day and I just blew his door's off. And this kid is the head of the Chi Town racing forums, So he's been racing for quite some time and pretty good with a stick.

P.S. Its rice thats supposed to be fast, but not. And I would love to see a stock S2000 run 170mph. I just can't see it happening.

I was reving up at a red light next to a viper one night and an S2000 pulled up in the 3rd lane to join in. Me and the guy in the Viper just looked at eachother thinking this guy was stupid. Needless to say, When the light turned green, me and the Viper where off and the S2000 was out of vision in my rearview mirror by about 80!!lol!!! the (S) must stand for slow.

Stats show 1/4 mile as a 14.40 for an S2000 (atleast the ones I have seen) they could never keep up with a lightning stock (on a straight away) for stock unless the Lightning just dropped the hammer and didn't hook for crap. Why don't we have a little get together with the S2000 guy as the track some day!!!

Is the 1/4 mile or a straight line street race the only way to judge a car?

Bumper sticker: Real racers head straight for the finish line while others drive in circles looking for it.
