How much boost can the engine take?

the new eaton M166 will be a 03 model exclusive to GM's new 8.1L Silverado SS496. it is rumored to be "Faster than Spiro on a quick clock" whatever that means. Ford is going to counter with, the 03 Lightning twin-turbo awd V-10. so keep your 01's and 02's in pristine condition, because your going to be getting rid of them soon, and remember,, a rumor has to start somewhere

Hey..what does that mean?
Hey everyone,
Since I work very close to the Eaton Supercharger plant here in
Athens Ga....could probably find out the actual facts about this blower....some time ago my past 2000 L was on display on their front lawn....saw their R&D facilities etc....extremely nice people...
in fact....if any of you had some questions for them, might be able to ask the plant engineers....let me know.

superchargers1,
What's your take on the boost level and overspinning with our M112's? Tons of folks using 2-4# larger lower blower pulleys along with 1-2# uppers with seemingly no ill effects. Are we going to see more trashed blowers and motors longer-term?

Just spoke to Jim at JDM this afternoon and the scoop I got from him was that the new blower is currently being tested on one of their trucks. I called him to see if the stuff I currently have (4 lb. pulley, 1 lb. upper, throttle body, chip, etc.) will work with the new blower. Jim claims that the blower in a stock setup will provide 15-16 lbs. of boost. He also said that if I were to use any pulley to go with the 2 lb. lower or 1 lb. upper but not both. He feels (and Sal may verify this) that at 18-20 lbs. of boost these things become nice expensive grenades with the rods being the "pin." Jim's previous motor lunched itself because of a bad rod and it appears that everyone else agrees that the rods are the current "weak link" in these engines. So it appears that 18-20 lbs. may be the maximum boost before having to rebuild the bottom-end using higher quality (stronger) parts.

Hum?
Maybe he doesn't work for Eaton after all, or school got to tough to finish so the Engineer Degree is still missing. If you can't say anything then just say so, but don't jump in a forum about a new design on a Eaton SC for Lightnings and cry "I work there" and then leave us in the dark.
