The blower on Jerry's truck is not bigger. It has carbon fiber internals and that will be the new release from Eaton!

Sal,

Building a new engine is starting to look like the better option for me. Can you tell me where you are getting a new block and crank? If I remember right all 5.4 engines have the forged crank in them. I know I can get new rods and pistons from Probe. Are there any differences in the heads between the normal 5.4 and the Lightning other than the cams? I would rather build it all right the first time then I dont have to go replaceing broken parts all the time. looking forward to hearing more from you.

LOL, no Tim, I don't want to make a wager. In this business, you never know . But this topic has been discussed already, and as of right now the companies involved are saying it's BS. Why would you doubt the company? If Eaton MAKES the product, and somebody tells you they have something new coming out, and you contact them and they say they don't, why would you believe the person who told you that over the company that's supposedly making it?

There's a lot of information that companies don't freely give out. I bet Ford has an idea of what the new Lightning will look like if they build one, how much HP, weight, etc. I guess it's all on a need to know basis.

Eric, I agree with you 100%, however I have connections at both Eaton and Magnuson, and both companies have verified there is no M166 coming out. The M166 is an OLD proposed project, and never went into production. As BABolt stated, there is a rear inlet M112 kit coming out, using the Magnuson M112. I am partially involved with that, so I know that's true. As for the M166, it costs Eaton over $300,000 just to DESIGN a blower and make a few prototypes. Why would they design a completely new blower for a vehicle that is built in low numbers? Like I stated in the other post, we'll just have to wait and see if it happens.

Thumbs up

Here's the straight scoop:
the new eaton M166 will be a 03 model exclusive to GM's new 8.1L Silverado SS496. it is rumored to be "Faster than Spiro on a quick clock" whatever that means. Ford is going to counter with, the 03 Lightning twin-turbo awd V-10. so keep your 01's and 02's in pristine condition, because your going to be getting rid of them soon, and remember,, a rumor has to start somewhere

I know some have posted that it was to be an Eaton, but that was not the original post, it just arrived there by attritional thinking. (is that a word?)

The point is, if your not involved directly, it might be appropriate to have doubts and let them be known, but possibly in a lighter tone. There's enough B/S around without stirring it up.

Now that I'm done preaching...................about that TT V-10 AWD..............................

Seriously though, I just got off the phone with John Coletti. He stated that they are dumping the Lightning for a RWD economy Ford Ranger stepside w/ the peformance oriented Pep Boys "Splash" kit.

We are building a new motor for our 01 with aftermarket rods and pistons, high volume oil pump, ARP studs, performance rod bearings, new block and crank, and fully blueprinted (really blueprinted, not just setting ring end gaps and using Plasigauge ). It should be good for about 850hp, which is good because we are turning the power up with this new set up.
Hey thats what I want Sal.

Put me down for one, No you better make it two. You know the way I get.
