Thumbs up Intercooler recall

Just placed my call to Ford for I/C fix. There was no problem. They said to allow 5 days for dealer to contact me. Everything was pleasant. I am a new register to forum, but I have been reading for one year. You guys are the best resource on the net! Thanks, and keep up the great work.

Well Gents, I got mine back today after having the new I/C installed. It took them two months to get the parts and one day to install. I noticed no difference in power/performance. My "Service Engine Soon" light is now on. I think I will drive it for awhile; maybe the light will go out. All else is well. Tomorrow the chip and filter go back on. Wish me luck. R/S Dennis

BrianK, if you read this you should know that the red one burned us for dinner. I thought you said that thing was mild!?!?!

what numbers are you calling?? The first thing the girl asked was the code number on the letter, even when I tried explaining the situation she said I had to wait to get the letter cause so many people were just calling. Post back the number you guys are calling so i know this is not total bull****!!

For the last time it IS NOT A RECALL and they ain't gonna fix it unless you tell them it's leaking.

I took my L in two weeks ago for the wiper motor recall and replacement of the lower control arm. When the service writer called up my account, he said "there is another one on your truck for the IC." My IC wasn't leaking. The parts have been ordered and I'm just waiting.

I called the number that was on the first post of this thread. I just told the lady that I had moved recently and I was unsure if I would even get the letter with the code on it, so she went ahead and got my info and ordered the parts and had them sent to the dealership of my choice. I hope things work out for you man, later.

What you talkin about

i just called the number and they asked for the number on the recall letter. I just told her that i wanted to see if it was part of the recall and gave her my vin number. She said yes it was part of the recall and started to take information (address, phone number) and she asked where i wanted to get the work done. Then she said the parts were ordered and the dealer will be calling you within 5 days to set up an appointment. Great way to get around the letter. lol

I called without any problems...they took down my VIN info and stuff and then said I should hear from the dealer in 5-7 business days.

Of couse, I'm also stopping at the dealer today, because there are 5 other things I need fixed. lol.

Well got my intercooler replaced today, they order the parts themselves about 4 days, and took them 5 hours to install the new one. I talk to the mechanic and he said the new one is a little bigger, something about the old one having 9 rows and the new one has 10. It doesnt really matter to me aslong as it works and it doesnt leak. I would imagine there would have to be some sort of power increase being that is bigger but i may be wrong. anybody??????

Ok then why am I sending in my truck with 36K on it to have it serviced for the intercooler for free. HUH, WHY? I don't have a warrenty and I'm sure as hell not going to remove any of my after market parts on it. So what is it then, cause I want to know. And to let you know, I called up the phone number and told them my vin and they never asked me if it was leaking. I never told them it was leaking, but I'm getting a new one!!!

I didn't call any 800 number....just called the dealer and said I heard there was a recall for the i/c. The service advisor took my VIN and said I was correct and a few days later the work was done! I don't know why Noevlm is saying this isn't a recall?? My intercooler wasn't leaking at all.

shoots...scores

Ok, here's the deal. I called the number over a week ago and the woman said they can't do anything till I got the letter. I've been seeing everyone on the board call and get their appointments and i'm stunned??? So I call again today.......I should be recieving a call from my dealer withing 4-5 days!!!
Here's the scoop.... There is apparently more than 1 woman working the phone, because this was a different woman than I spoke to before. If you get denied , call back and try again.
