newbie
I just bought my L last week and found this site, but I have some questions about upgrades and stuff.. can you all help me out?
When I was at the dealer they gave me a tour of the whole place, and when I was in the shop I saw 3 lightnings there for engine work, but the only one that was covered under warranty was one with an innercooler,(or something) type of leak. The other two were what the tech called "ford voids" and they were not covered because they had been modified with other parts....
What he said to me was that the two Lightnings that were not covered under warranty must have had an aftermarket pulley for the blower put on the end of the crankshaft without a support or something. (how can you support something that is spinning?? ).. anyway.. He said it wiped out the thrust washers or shims and that the engine lost oil pressure and locked up..
can anyone help me figure out what he is talking about? I dont want to modify my Lightning if I am gonna do more harm than good.......... thanks alot,
One more thing..are there more silver ones this year??

The webmaster could easily find out so...
Spiro
Ease up buddy ... I think Sal is just saying that the new guy looks a little fishy. First 2 posts are a bit focused for a newbie.
In my opinion Spiro has done a pretty good job of questioning his intentions, and Sal is just following up.
wheredidjoego appears to be an AOL dial up user so it is tough to tell if he is an existing user posing as someone else. We'll see...

Then I appologize for the assumption.
This person is clearly here to start ***** up between vendors..

when I read this post, my first impression was that this post was a setup, then I scrolled down and saw Spiro and Sal's replies and it reinforced those thoughts. This does not sound like a real scenario, three L's in the shop for motor work, the dealership personel pointing out that two of them had voided warranties (especially for such a specific reason). By the way, who was giving the tour? The salesman? he must be a busy guy to be able to keep track of all of the repairs and warranty status of every vehicle coming into the shop. just a little shady.... curiouser and curiouser.
just my .02
later,
chris
P.S. The question is then who was that masked man? and why is he here trying to sell JDM's pulleys that nobody can get???

Is the pulley that everyone talkes about the one that wiggles when the truck is running? I cant figure out why that would make a differnence, the bracket that is holding it seems to be pretty simple... SG
one morething.. My name comes from my sons frog.. he lost it and my son always asks where he went..

I didnt come here for crap, I came here because of what people say about this site, but I didnt expect this type of response.. guess I will have to ask my questions somewhere else..
imagine my suprise when I have mail telling my someone responded to my question so soon, and then imagine how I feel by the responses. SG
steven gomez,
You would raise less eyebrows if you werent so clearly trying to diss one vendor over another.
You might get the benefit of the doubt if your profille didnt list
"Interests- nothing, I hate everyone "
"Occupation - criminal "
This board is a very well behaved group ( most of the time ) and as you can see they see through BS pretty quick. Just a heads up before the furr flys. I am on here WAY too much, and will not tolerate anyone "stirring the pot " for no reason to use Sals terms.
So feel free to participate here, however you have gotten off to a curious start. It may be innocent but your first three posts have set an curious tone. Hopefully the next three will be less sinister

How did I ditch a vendor Doug?
I dont even know who the vendors are. I was told about JDM on NLOC, and so far I seem to feel very unwelcome here by spiro, is he a vendor?
Is there a list of who I can talk to concerning my questions? because I dont want to deal with people that just want to tell me I am full of it or something.
I have heard about swanson performance. Are they ok to deal with? do they have a website? maybe it is more friendly than this one..
sorry for asking questions..SG

Questions are cool. everybody has them
Your last post is a good example of an innocent post.
It may very well be that some vendors and former vendors are a little too sensitive but it is for good reason. - I will aplogise in advance for the group if we collectively read you wrong...
Try posting a new topic with straight forward question that doesnt lean either way and you will be amazed by the helpfull repsonse of the members here..
