Shifter for lightning?

Has anyone here installed or inquired about a slap stick shifter for their lightning. Pros/Cons????? To much strain on trans?

When I first came up with the idea for the NAVIGATOR center console and bucket seats, I had all intentions of installing my CHEETAH shifter in it for better control during burnouts and a different look. But after a few days with the console, I 86'd the idea. It looks too good the way it is, and that extra storage space comes in real handy.

But it can be done. You could even find the correct interior parts for when you remove the column shifter from a manual equipped F 150.

Would a slap stick shifter hurt the trans on these beasts?

Factoty_TECH would be the man for that question.
Let me ask you this:
Do you plan on manually shifting your L?

Exclamation

You ain't gonna shift it as well as the computer can. Way too much delay between the time you move the lever and the time it actually shifts.

4D THNDR is right. You will not be able to shift it quick enough, or more important consistent enough.
Have you ever tried manually shifting it now?? it really sux..

The problem with the column shifter is just that is is a flimsey little peice of plastic that just dosent move fast or else you will break it or throw it into reverse. Correct me if im wrong but the column shifter (stock on L) shifts the trans electronically and the Slap stick will manually shift. When you shift with a slap stick you are putting the trans in the next gear once the stick moves and you can slam it fast and hard!!! I am debating on wether to do it or not. It's nothing that couldn't be taken off if it didn't work!!! I'll contact b&m or hurst and see if they have an application that will fit our L and maby do an experiment with it . I'll get a tall chrome one that bends back over the seat with a pistol grip......ahhhhh...... I can feel my L getting a woody.

i has thinking of the same mod, a diffrent shifter, due to the fact that i did not like the way the L shifted from the factory.....THEN i got a chip, the tuner i whet to really does not play with the fuel mixtures, i know this is a problem with some people and a cause that some dont get a chip, the only motor spec. that is changed is one for timing, its bumped up a couple degrees, but the trans specs. were changeed to:

1-2 shift not till 10 miles per
2-3 till 40
overdrive till 55
lockup is off till 60
and down shifts were increased so upon decel, it will go to the lower gear sooner so when ya hit it again you will have the gearing for it.

all this put together, trans, and shifts are awesome, i love the way it drives and overdrive is never turned off..
